I was a size 12 when I got pregnant with DS. I had always been a 14/16 prior to that (it took a lot of work and no food!).

I went up to a 18/20 during third trimester (and put on 3 stone!!) Shock and am still a 16/18 nearly a year later Blush I don't have enough time for massive gym sessions but i do take DS in his backpack for 3-6 mile walks every other day, plus the running around after a toddler! I eat a fairly balanced diet, but i know I could do better.

So ladies...how long did it take you to get back to pre-pregnancy size/shape/weight? and HOW DID YOU DO IT??

Thanks x

I have just recently got back to what I was pre-pg... but not my wedding weight. If I get too close to that people whinge, and TBH I look older, so am happ to be a little rounder than I'd think I'd want to be. I can still get into my size 8's, I think I have gained some because 3 weeks ago the trousers were falling down and they aren't again. My shape has changed, and my ribs seem bigger. I mean there is NO fat on them (i.e I can feel them easily), but they sort of stick out. I had incredibly rib pain with DS (felt like they were being pushed out, but not my a baby foot), it was a constant horrible pain, and the dr told me, "what do you expect you are pregnant". This was the same dr who told me he wouldn't give both myself and DS treatment for thrush when I was breastfeeding... The HV gave me a prescription in the end. Sorry got derailed then.

My ribs have stayed big, my weight is around 8st, and all my clothes I wore when I was 20 (and 7st) still fit. Disclaimer. I am 5ft, so look stout to my mind.

ReindeerBollocks · 07/04/2011 20:24

2-3 months to get back into my clothes size. My shape has changed forever though, I now have more rounded hips and saggy boobs some parts of me are never going to be the same as they were pre DC's.

to foreveron diet:
How do you lose 1/2 stone in a month? What do you eat or do you starve yourself? And does it stay off?
Thanks

Sorry to depress you, but it was three weeks before I was back into my size 12 jeans. I was 41 when DD was born and have always been slim with a vey fast metabolism. I couldn't eat much during pregnancy because I felt full after a few mouthfuls. I can't understand how some women can trough their way through pregnancy as my baby took up too much of my stomach space. I only put on about one and a half stone when pregnant and breastfed afterwards so the weight fell off me. I didn't diet, but I was religious with my exercises and followed the exercise sheet the mw gave me. As soon as I was allowed to I did regular sit-ups as well to get my flat stomach back.

Sorry, this isn't what you wanted to hear, but it is what happened to me.

3 weeks i was barely out pj,i was manky and had no routine.well done

BetterTogether · 07/04/2011 20:44

Pre-pregnancy I was slim whilst being able to eat whatever I wanted...oh how I wish I'd appreciated it back then!! Grin

After DC1 it took me 11 months to get back to pre-pregnancy weight, but I still had wobbly tummy etc and the weight loss didn't last - by the time I got pregnant with DC2 a couple of years later, I was 1.5 stone up on my pre-pregnancy weight.

With DC2, I gained 4 stone (although DS was 11lbs 3oz so I'm blaming that!!) and 15 months on, I still haven't lost all the weight :( I'm getting married in 3 months so desperately trying to get back in shape, only got about 10lbs to go but the last bit is so hard!! I eat healthy meals, but then tend to snack out of control in the afternoon/evenings. I do try to go to the gym, but life easily gets in the way.

Anyway, ramble over. Good luck getting your figure back to how you want it :)

CultureMix · 07/04/2011 20:50

Took me about 6 months after both DS1 and DS2 (2 years apart). In each case BF helped greatly - though you definitely need to eat more, I remember waking at night and going to the kitchen to eat something as was SO hungry. In both cases I did lots of walking around all day pushing the pram / chasing a toddler.

I was very lucky that I also managed 2-3 gym sessions every week which helped tone me up - I was back to my pre-pregnancy weight within 3 months but soft and flabby, needed the exercise. I did eat reasonably & carefully during both pregnancies, so only really put on baby weight.

I'm right back to my pre-pregnancy weight 9st and size 14. That said my body has changed, my waist is thicker and my boobs have gone down a cup size and all droopy Sad.

happybubblebrain · 07/04/2011 20:54

I never got it back, but it doesn't bother me.
I was a size 6 - 8 pre pregnancy and went up to size 12 which is where I stayed, but I don't mind. I now eat whatever I want and don't do any excercise except walking, whereas I used to live in the gym and on my bike. I prefer not being so obsessive about how I look and what my weight is and how many calories things are, I have better things to do.

gateacre1 · 07/04/2011 20:57

6 weeks after dd2 I could fit into my size 10 pre dd2 preg jeans would have been sooner but c section scar hurt, no exercise just bf
I still havent made it back to my pre dd1 shape dont think I ever will.
I eat masses of chocolate and cake every day to keep going so I would probably be slimmer, but I like chocolate and cake too much!!

Its funny I was looking at old holiday photos pre kids and thinking wow look how slim I was, however at the time they were taken I thought I was fat!!

now I have a cellulite stomach and the fat on my thighs is so jiggly in comparison to before. Such is life !

Pandamoanium · 07/04/2011 20:57

About 21 years! And now only because I am ill and can't eat much!

foreverondiet · 07/04/2011 21:04

cherryteat - Lost 2lbs a week on tesco diets totaller (15 totals a day - basically 1200 calories but more totals allocated to say 80 cals of chocolate that 80 cals of apple) until I was just a stone off target (ie first 2 stone)... then its been one pound a week on average, now doing low carb low fat and logging on myfitnesspal.....

Plus initially I did gym 3 x a week and EA sports active on wii on non gym days.

Lost 2 stone in 3 months. Last stone too 2 months.

2 weeks after DC1 I was back in size 12 pre-pg jeans and back to pre-pg figure with taut stomach within about 4 months. I didn't breastfeed but I did workout DVDs and continued to eat cake daily.

With DC2, took two weeks to get back into size 12 jeans and 8 weeks since the birth, my stomach is almost totally flat. I am breastfeeding this time and still on the cake plus chocolate. I thank my fast metabolism for the mercy it has shown me.

CurrySpice · 07/04/2011 21:08

My figure is better than when I got pregnant with DD1. But then I lost 3½ stone between DD1 and DD2

I am currently 1 stone heavier than when I fell with DD2 (9 years ago ffs!) and miserable :(

Working o it though
