to ask what exactly a girlcrush is?

Are these sexual or not? Or can they be either? I think I must be the most boring straightest person I've ever met; the thought of sexytime with another woman leaves me seriously cold ? but I have 'Why am I not her?/Why isn't she my best friend?' type feelings for some famous women (Rebecca Hall, Natalie Haynes, Sue Perkins, Claudia Winkleman).

So who is your girlcrush? And WHAT exactly is one?

its where you fancy another girl, it might be a friend, a girl in a bar or a celebrity. it dousnt mean you want to sleep with them just that you like them a bit more than normal. its also sometimes a bit different feeling than if you fancied a man

I've got one on Katy Perry.

I think she's beautiful, funny and talented and I'm very jealous of her boobs.
I wouldn't touch Russel Brand with yours though, looks like he could do with a good wash to me.

Think it's something that straight women say they have to make them sound open-minded...or to shock (or whatever).

Bit of a trend really...

I don't get it...but then maybe these people have leanings towards lesbianism. Must do or they wouldn't fancy their own sex.

Parma, interesting thought. I've also noticed meeja-type men writing and talking in the papers about 'mancrushes'; presumably the same thing from the other perspective, and perhaps also designed to shock/make them seem more interesting.

I think it's a fascination more than anything. For instance I think Susan Sarandon is amazing. Beautiful, talented, intelligent and has a screen presence I can't take my eyes off. Don't for one second have any sexual attraction the woman though. That's my interpretation of it anyway.

A girl crush is when a straight woman is over the moon about another woman. They find the other woman smart, funny, wise, beautiful, talented.....alomost like they have a crush It doesn't mean you actually want to sleep with them, or that you don't like men, or anything as serious as that.
girl A:
"Sally is amazing! did you see her new dress today? And she just got a beautiful new coat, it makes her look so good!"
girl B:
"Wow girl A.....you have a girl crush"

I have a major crush on Mila Kunis, I guess it's half sexual and half me wishing I looked like her.

If I'd drunk enough I'd probably shag her tho

Actually I have a bit of girl crush on Jennifer Aniston but it's not sexual, I just think she always looks amazing!

I don't think it's necessarily sexual. It's basically being in awe of someone, usually a celeb.
