to be sad about the potential loss of Blue Peter

Apparently its being moved off of BBC1 onto CBBC but also it could be filmed elsewhere, presenters are dropping out and its generally going downhill Sad. I loved this program as a child and I think it would be very sad if it was to go. Anyone with me or has it had its day?

It's prob had its day to be honest....sorry!! I loved stuff when I was a kid like Ragtime and Playschool - they all go to the tv place in the sky eventually Grin

FabbyChic · 04/04/2011 14:43

It's had it's day.

Desperateforthinnerthighs · 04/04/2011 14:43

Plus if it's going down hill then yes, def best to get rid of it and leave us with our rose tinted glasses.

GypsyMoth · 04/04/2011 14:44

had its day.....i used to love 'magpie' that went years ago

WalterFlipsticks · 04/04/2011 14:44

I hated Blue Peter as a child, so I'm not bothered but I can see what you mean, it is rather an institution!

NettoSuperstar · 04/04/2011 14:47

I really like it. DD and I watch together and we both think Helen Skelton is amazing.

SardineQueen · 04/04/2011 14:48

I hated blue peter when I was a child!

Was more upset about top of the pops TBH when that went.

Mind you maybe they will all come back like Dr Who?!

marmaladetwatkins · 04/04/2011 14:52

YABU it is cack and always has been, sorry!

SardineQueen · 04/04/2011 14:55

It was really boring, that's my over-riding memory. I caught the end of John Noakes, mainly had Simon Groom type era and then Janet thingy.

My brother won a blue peter badge though!

Ihavewelliesbuttheyrenotgreen · 04/04/2011 15:14

I was going to compare it to Top of the Pops SardineQueen that was an institution that went before its time IMO. NettoSuperstar Helen Skelton seems fab.

I think she's a fantastic role model for young girls.

darleneconnor · 04/04/2011 16:16

The non-London parts of the UK are not 'elsewhere'.

BP was boring and out of date 20 years ago.

JanMorrow · 04/04/2011 16:20

It's moving to Manchester when the CBBC department move up there in the next year or so. The current presenters are contracted for the Manchester move and I believe at the moment the "move" to the CBBC channel is just a proposal.

notanumber · 04/04/2011 16:21

I was bored to tears by BP as a child. And that was twenty odd years ago.

DorisVinyard · 04/04/2011 16:31

I was bored to tears by BP as a child. And that was forty odd years ago.

TWDA · 04/04/2011 16:35

Even as a kid I thought it was boring. Middle class, poncey and boring!

TheCrackFox · 04/04/2011 16:42

It was (still is) so bloody worthy.

Ihavewelliesbuttheyrenotgreen · 04/04/2011 19:08

I didn't mean 'elsewhere' in a bad way darlene. I just meant that apparantly as well as moving to another channel it will also no longer be film in the original studio. You are right Jan these changes are not confirmed yet and it is just speculation that these changes are signalling the end of the show. I was just interested to see what others' views are and whether anyone else would miss it!
