However they can't be shot, arrested or have their children taken away because if you do that to people for believing bits of the bible you'd have to do it to all who believe bits of it are true. You can't really have a list of verses can you and say it's evil to follow those but these are the word of god.

I totally agree that these people do not deserve our attention, I was even shouting at the TV when people at one of their pickets were actually engaging in conversation with them and asking them questions, they have no logic whatsoever and are definitely not worth getting angry or upset about.

I agree that you cannot take children away from their parents because they are forced to believe certain bits of the bible. These children are however imo being mentally abused.

jonicomelately, I think that kind of thing is abusive too, but again you'd have to stop people taking their kids to Mass or teaching them that they will go to hell if you make a law against it.

Some people even cut bits off of their children's bodies as part of their ritual.

I honestly think that you could properly draw a distinction between taking your children to Mass and bringing them up within the confines of a cult where their physical and mental well-being is clearly not being met

I think a lot of "mainstream" Christianity in the US would seem very hardline to us in the UK. There is an excellent book about the Columbine tragedy (can't remember who by but it is worth a read, if very upsetting) and I was at the stuff about the churches - the way they behaved was nothing like my (limited) experience of the Catholic/CoE/CoS in troubled times.

I posted in haste last night and now regret saying they should be shot. They should be ignored.
