...... so I know that DD has a tricky name (Phoebe) and I'm used to people asking to check how its spelt or having cards for her with her name spelt phEObe, so I'm a little Hmm at DH for writing it wrong in my first mums day card when he's usually one of the first to correct anyone else!

Although thinking about it, may use it as an excuse to be extra lazy pampered today, and am starting to see the funny side that he will be reminded of it for years to come!

YANBU - doofus.

southeastastra · 03/04/2011 11:14

maybe he was pretending she wrote it? Grin

BlueAmy · 03/04/2011 11:15

OMG really? Her own father can't get it right?!

My father was prone to writing his full name (and title) in cards to me and my siblings (work mode I suppose), but he did at least spell our names right....

What an idiot!

Definitely use it as ammunition! Send him out for chocolate to make up for it!

Last year was my first mothers day (DD was 3 months) DH bought a card that went on and on about 'every year I love you more' 'Over the years you have been a wonderful Mum' etc. I was a bit miffed and pointed out he could've at least read the card before buying it, I'd only been a Mum three months, certainly not years! Grin

It was a very sweet card with first mothers day on it, a little keepsake on it as well. DH looked so chuffed and was saying that he looked everywhere for the 'right' one (awwww i do love him mind) and asked if I liked it, looked Shock when I told him that her name was wrong, then proceeded to argue with me that he spelt it right! (this I think comes from the school of deny, defend and lie school of male thinking!)

A woman I once knew had an unusual german name, her mum was German. Her dad, who was English and a bit of a simple soul, couldn't even pronounce it properly let alone spell it!

Newgolddream · 03/04/2011 12:16

pink I love that story, youve made me smile Smile

kaid100 · 03/04/2011 12:18

I just deliberately spelt my girl's names wrong on my wife's card (along with most of the rest of the card) because I was pretending it was from them. Mine are less than five months old.

Tanee58 · 03/04/2011 12:19

It could be worse. DD's father went off to register her birth, and spelt her second name wrong. It wasn't even a difficult or foreign name. So now she's stuck with it...

notso · 03/04/2011 12:19

This year update card was definitely designed for an adult daughter sending the card, but will let him off as nice bottle of perfume was purchased and dinner is being cooked for me while I sit around on my fat bum
