Am I the only one who feels indignant on behalf of the poor wife who never gets to fulfill her lifelong ambition? AND the man gets to have the surrogate kid, which she never could, probably because her husband was such a grouch....

I didn't cry.

I've watched it once - and won't again, I know what triggers me and I try to leave those cans of worms blocked up (was the miscarriage bit). Toy Story 3 is also on my can't watch list since I watched it when I was still pregnant and hormonal and cried - and I don't cry at films so the association with the crap that happened is there for that one as well.

rookiemater · 01/04/2011 17:19

YANBU we watched together on holiday, I blubbed uncontrollably, cue DS "Why is mummy crying?" then a good 10 minutes explaining why. Mind you I cried at the end of Despicable Me so I'm probably not a good person to ask.

HeidiKat · 01/04/2011 17:32

I didn't realise she had a miscarriage, I had taken that whole bit to mean that she had fertility issues and couldn't get pregnant. I couldn't watch it while I was TTC as I had read reviews and knew that part was in the film, and I had an irrational fear that I was going to have fertility issues too, I could only bring myself to watch it after DD was born. I cried my eyes out at Toy Story 3, something about Disney films gets me every time, I even cry at the happy ending of the Little Mermaid because by getting her wish and marrying her prince it means she will never see her father or sisters again Blush.

Mamaz0n · 01/04/2011 17:40

I cried my eyes out at the cinema when we saw this. I thought the whole thing was heartbreaking over and over again.

frankie3 · 01/04/2011 18:01

I really cried in UP when he finds the photo album. I also cried in Princess and the Frog! When the insect dies and a new star appears in the sky.

georgie22 · 01/04/2011 18:10

I cried behind my 3D glasses at the Imax watching Up! I work in palliative care so see loss and grief on an almost daily basis but seeing things on a screen seems to really affect me, or perhaps I can cry then as I'm not needing to be strong for those I support. I saw Up pre baby - hate to think what I would be like now!

The3Bears · 01/04/2011 18:12

Theres nothing wrong with crying at Up or Toy story 3 I did :(

The3Bears · 01/04/2011 18:15

I even cried at tangled when her parents get ready to light the lanterns and hug I just get to emotional :(

pointydog · 01/04/2011 18:20

It's good to cry at Up.

discobeaver · 01/04/2011 18:25

No no no. Up is not blubworthy.

Secret Millionaire, I do sometimes cry at that. When they go "ta da! Here's twenty grand, the blind orphans won't be kicked into the street after all, hurray!"

But not Up.

bintofbohemia · 01/04/2011 18:27

I took DS1 to see this when he was just turned three and jsut sat there and sobbed for the first twenty minutes. Blush

DontCallMeBaby · 01/04/2011 18:35

The3Bears that made me cry too - I think it's beautifully done, the king's distraught face with the tears running into his beard ... Needless to say, Up also made me cry. And then I cried again when my hairdresser made me explain WHY it made me cry. Blush

camdancer · 01/04/2011 18:36

I can't get past the first 10 mins of Up. Please don't tell me there is more to cry at near the end. I'll never get there and will now definitely wait until I'm not pregnant anymore. In Toy Story 3 I cried from the furnace bit to the end of the movie.

I'm really not one to cry at movies at all, but Pixar just seem to push all those buttons in me.

YANBU
I wept throughout the whole bloody movie

Portofino · 01/04/2011 18:45

I had to watch in French but still blubbed like a baby. Dd was looking at me as if I was mad.

ShavingGodfreysPrivates · 01/04/2011 18:47

Must be honest, I've never fecking heard of it.

toeragsnotriches · 01/04/2011 19:30

Oh Gawd, the music, the bit in the opening where she can't have a baby, the bit where she gets tired going up the hill... I'm in pieces for the first 20 minutes.

And the bit where the balloons all come out...

Waaahhhh!

extremepie · 01/04/2011 19:32

I cry at the beginning and the end of UP, my son never seems to get why but I just can't help it, I cry every time!

I also cry at the end of Toy Story 3 when he and his toys have one last playtime....

I NEVER normally cry at movies, even 'based on a true story' ones, but I cry at movies made for children?
Oh well, still like them :D

girliefriend · 01/04/2011 19:37

yes my dd looks at me like Im mad when I start crying at the beginning of UP and at the end of toy story 3!!! However my dd (age 5) cried in UP when the baddie catches the big bird in the net!!! And we both cried through a film called Duma today about a boy and his pet cheeta!!!

toosoft · 01/04/2011 20:16

YANBU. My DH cries at Up. I cry at everything.

womma · 01/04/2011 20:24

I cried watching UP. I wasn't expecting a ruddy cartoon to be so touching and sad. And beggaring Toy Story 3 as well. I am a wuss.

I even cry at Come Outside when Mabel loses Pippin (erm, nearly every episode then) and comes home and looks at the hook with her lead hanging from it. Bloody hopeless

MissPenteuth · 01/04/2011 20:26

Oh YANBU, the montage near the beginning? I saw it in the cinema when I was pg and I just wept.

LoveLeonardCohen · 01/04/2011 20:28

NO YA definately NBU....OMG that bit where it whizzes through the old man's life with his wife...so so so so sad and affecting...sAND don't get me started on Hatchi....
