Just pointing out that if you say knackers on rollercoaster, your post will be (quite rightly)removed. There was a big row a few months ago...

stleger · 31/03/2011 21:57

Chipmonkey you are following me on the twitter.... did you realise?

chipmonkey · 31/03/2011 21:58

Am I, Stleger? Not under your MN name, though?

ValiumSoltera · 31/03/2011 21:59

Sorry stleger Blush

ValiumSoltera · 31/03/2011 22:00

stleger is the same on both. That makes me feel a bit creepy somehow.

ValiumSoltera · 31/03/2011 22:01

what is st leger? is it a beer? Confused

stleger · 31/03/2011 22:03

Master of disguise! I mostly retweet the musings of Constantin Guruwhatsit!

stleger · 31/03/2011 22:04

A st leger is a horserace, a classic, there is one in England and one in Ireland. Apparently Grin

LadySybilRamkin · 31/03/2011 22:44

oh my word, now I'm confused as to who is an RCer and who isn't... and any RCer who read the original deleted thread knows who I am!
I'm now off to find the Mumsnet me and see if she suits her name Smile

messymammy · 01/04/2011 00:38

well holy jaysus RCers!how de hell are ye all?
I didn't know we overlapped in the Venn diagrams of parenting sites!
I'm delighted now to see I'm not the only t'internet whore....

AmAlwaysRight · 01/04/2011 01:18

It's the parochial feel that I like.

Unfortunately the level of intelligence among posters has rather scraped the barrel of late though.

BarbieLovesKen · 01/04/2011 10:32

stleger damn you! I knew you were messing with me! I asked you on here about 2 years ago if you were the same stleger from RC and you denied any knowledge of what I was talking about!!! Grin

BarbieLovesKen · 01/04/2011 10:35

Oh and also (can?t remember who said it) I wasn?t inferring that all Irish people were stupid by the way (I?m Irish, living in Ireland), just a lot of people on RC are stupid. Or appear to be. Myself included probably. Anyway, not all of them are Irish. Tis like here - it?s a UK site but not everyone here is from the UK.

minervamcgonagle · 01/04/2011 10:51

An irish mumsnet would never work. It could never remain annonymous. Everybody in bloody ireland knows everybody.

WinterOfOurDiscountTents · 01/04/2011 11:41

Rollercoaster is AWFUL. Soap box is always full of rants about travellers and spreading urban myths about them there forriners getting new prams every week on the social, while simultananeously on money matters there's homegrown gizzers asking how to get maternity extra payments from the CWO.

Plus I got banned. Grin

chipmonkey · 01/04/2011 11:56

miners, actually I did recognise my cousin on magicmum but I did email her to let her know I recognised her.

Winter, yes! I don't go on there much now. Do they still go on about "forrin nashinels"

ValiumSoltera · 01/04/2011 15:13

There are plenty of people who challenge the bigottry though. There are a few absolute horrors on rc though! b*yz[cough] oops.

Barbie, I hear you. Lots of different sites in Ireland too, each with a totally different feel. Boards.ie - they'd build a nest in one ear and let the other one out as flats.

Not everybody on rc stupid. It's very mixed in my opinion. I'm a bit intimidated by some of the posters because they are so clever and so well-informed.

AmAlwaysRight · 01/04/2011 15:17

What did you do Winter?

AmAlwaysRight · 01/04/2011 15:19

pml Valium!! Naughty... very very naughty!

Stupidity levels are definitely on the increase. They shouldn't teach the plebs how to use computers...

Mumofaflump · 01/04/2011 15:29

What, in the name of my great Aunt Gertrudes unspeakably large bloomers, is a "Slumberbear"?

JanMorrow · 01/04/2011 15:29

haha, have you seen boards.ie? You get chucked off there (as in banned) if you disagree too strongly with someone and don't even THINK about swearing, terrible place.

ValiumSoltera · 01/04/2011 15:32

Lots of over zealous monitoring going on on boards.ie. Total contrast to the hideous un-controlled bun-fighting and bitching and patronising counter sniping that goes on on rc. There really is a board for everybody isn't there? Wink

Why were you banned winter? [agog face]

GabbyLoggon · 01/04/2011 16:06

I am a moderate. But Trans World Airline Traveller is ok

cloudydays · 01/04/2011 16:44

I think I need to out myself as an rc'er just to say Shock Grin at valium's naughty reference. I'm so tempted to name usern*mes now but I shall refrain.

I found rc handy for the prenatal and baby-of-the-same-age kind of groups, and I did meet some people through that site who are lovely and smart and interesting.

But in general I'd agree that the standard and variety of discussion on cc&t and soap box is very, very dull as compared to MN Chat or AIBU. I think the main reason for this is the fact that those topics are dominated by a group of regular incredibly uninteresting posters, and the way that they round on any newbie or casual poster who disagrees with one of their fellow internet addicts "friends" means that you seldom see a fresh or interesting view expressed.

If you look at any of the special topics, or the pregnancy or new baby boards (essentially anything that would give you a broader view of who uses the site, as opposed to the handful of people who seem to live their lives on there), you'll get a much better impression of the intelligence, sense of humour, open-mindedness, and willlingness-to-help of the average rc'er.
