To want to shout from the rooftops about my neighbours?

DD has an ongoing health problem with her lungs which hinders her sleep and causes her discomfort so she is crying a lot more than usual. She is getting us up at 4am most days (although not all) and when in pain can scream bloody murder.

Our next door neighbour rang the bell today (after a hellish night) and said that they heard our daughter screaming. I was waiting for the inevitable complaints but do you know what I got instead?

A basket of home cooked meals with the promise of more as they know we are having a hard time so want to help. These are not neighbours we are particularly close to speak to either. I was gobsmacked and burst into tears at their kindness.

I bloody love where I live, there is such a community here and I want to shout it from the rooftops!

How lovely! That's such a generous and thoughtful thing to do.

Lollyheart · 29/03/2011 12:09

Aww that's lovely. Smile
Sorry that your dd is unwell tho.

kreecherlivesupstairs · 29/03/2011 12:09

That's really nice to read. My immediate thought after the first paragraph and sentance was 'they complained and said they would call the police'. How lovely that you have good neighbours.
Best wishes to your DD too.

Ilovehotchoc · 29/03/2011 12:09

Ah that's lovely, it restores your faith in human kind!

ChickensHaveNoEyebrows · 29/03/2011 12:09

Oh, that is lovely. Restores your faith, doesn't it? :) I hope your DD feels better soon.

Hammy02 · 29/03/2011 12:09

That is lovely. It's is great to hear about people like that.

Cher87 · 29/03/2011 12:11

Lollybrolly · 29/03/2011 12:11

Awww how lovely. Its so nice to read something so positive. That is a true act of kindness.

You are very lucky to have such wonderful neighbours.

ChaosTrulyReigns · 29/03/2011 12:12

That's fantastic - thanks for telling us.

It's lovely - we normally only hear about all the folks who have to put up with duff neighbours.

NorfolkNChance · 29/03/2011 12:13

Can't wait to try one of the meals she has marked as suitable for DD, they are originally from Bangalore so lots of new flavours to try.

We are hoping DD will improve soon, we are in hospital on Thursday for further tests so fingers crossed!

abenstille · 29/03/2011 12:26

Wow, amazing, my eyes just started watering bloody contact lenses

wahwahwah · 29/03/2011 12:29

That is amazing! I can't believe in this day and age people would be so considerate and not just 'me me me'.

poopnscoop · 29/03/2011 12:29

What a joy to have a nice neighbour post for a change :)

I'm so happy for you x

oldwomaninashoe · 29/03/2011 12:29

Good neighbours are worth their weight in gold!

NorfolkNChance · 29/03/2011 12:29

Thank you card and flowers are arranged, DH collecting on way home from work.

I am amazed she and her Mum had time this morning with a 4 year old and newborn in the house!

That's lovely. It's the same where we live. When we moved in we got no less than 10 welcome cards and 6 bottles of wine.

I'm off work at the mo with awful morning sickness and everyone has been great - cooking us food and having DD (2) round theirs to play.

kenobi · 29/03/2011 13:06

I gues you're in Norfolk, NorfolkNChance, but bumpsadaisie - where do you live? [jealous] Londoner...

DitheringDoofus · 29/03/2011 13:08

Awwww....that has given me goosebumps. How wonderful Smile

tibni · 29/03/2011 13:10

How lovely and thoughtful.

Hope your dd is soon more comfortable

belledechocchipcookie · 29/03/2011 13:10

snifs I love your neighbours. That's such a lovely thing to do.

NorfolkNChance · 29/03/2011 13:12

Just over the border in Sunny Suffolk, I like my suggestive of swearing name!

kenobi - we are in the southern lake district. I was brought up up here but spent late 20s/early 30s in Hackney. We moved back here when DD was 6 mths.

It really is lovely up here! Though sometimes do miss the cut and thrust (though its only an hour or so to Manchester).

JaneS · 29/03/2011 13:19

Ohh, that's so lovely, brought a real smile to my face!

Sorry your DD is ill - hope she's feeling better soon.
