With SKY line rental - you have to pay 2.50 a month to get call back - which is the only way to get through to our docs

Like most people these days, the only way to get a doctors appointment is to phone first thing in the morning, and then put the phone on callback till you get through as its permanently engaged.

Now I want to get caller ID for personal reasons so thought I might as well get sky line rental at the same time (calls already through them).

However they charge 2.50 a month, just for the call back facility!!

Now I know that BT charge, but at least they only charge when you use it!

AIBU or is that just insane?

I have NOT changed my line rental BTW and won't be doing so even though I hate BT.

YABabitU - my docs have the same system, and I just hang up and hit redial 'til I get through. You don't NEED callback, surely it just makes life slightly more convenient?

I use redial. On one occasion I hit redial 145 times before managing to get through (I was bored so counted). Was very annoying. Patients have to call from 7:30 but the line's engaged from 7:20. 99% of the time I can't get an appointment with my own GP so I avoid going.

I take your point, but I have two children under 3, so can't really stay on the phone doing that for long - Esp 145 times!!!!

So really want redial!

I mean - call back!
