What is wrong with Waitrose?

Am I just being unlucky or are they seriously downgrading on quality. I have in the last two weeks shopped at three different Waitroses. The meat which was supposed to last for a further 3 days had gone off, the fresh bread became mouldy the next day, the milk went off the next day, half of the potatoes I had to throw away, half of the tomatoes were rotten ... I just cannot believe how poor the stuff was. Just me being unlucky or is this how Waitrose boosts its profits?

last time I buy fish anywhere else then

I guess the quality of the fish would be pretty regional.

Never had this problem, am an avid Waitrose shopper.

Except with the fish, which does seem to go off very quickly.

I don't really shop in Waitrose, but on the relatively few occasions that I have bought bags of apples in there, there has been a higher incidence of badly bruised ones than at my usual Tesco.

I am refering produce including flowers. Don't know about meat although I would be very surprised.
All specs are pretty much exactly the same in terms of each product. If by standards you mean accreditations maybe but they are all variation on a theme anyway.

To clarify further - there will be some very specialist suppliers who are tiny and can do just Waitrose but most food businesses need volume and Waitrose doesn't (yet) do volume so a business CANNOT be based around Waitrose supply and survive.
