oh and of course eggy bread must be on white! my husband is glaswegian and went into conniptions when i mentioned someone had made it on poncey bread ... tis against a Glasgow Law apparently ... Grin

BringBackGoingForGold · 29/03/2011 08:10

It's universal law, I think you'll find Smile
Does he know about the Glasgow Law that for a hangover you must purchase (from the corner shop) a white roll and some square sausage, and drink Irn Bru out of a glass bottle (never a can)?

CheerfulYank · 29/03/2011 08:28

Is eggy bread the same as French toast? Confused In which case everyone knows you add vanilla and cinnamon to the eggs and then top it all off with maple syrup when done. :)

BringBackGoingForGold · 29/03/2011 08:55

I suppose it is. I agree sweet is the way to go (plus bacon sometimes)

EdgarAleNPie · 29/03/2011 09:00

YABU for making me lust for a greasy fry up.

on cheap white bread.

Georgimama · 29/03/2011 09:02

Everytime I look at this thread I think of Vince Vegas in Pulp Fiction "but bacon tastes good"

I am now going to have a bacon bap with real butter and tomato ketchup - purely in solidarity of course.

ApocalypseCheeseToastie · 29/03/2011 09:04

OOoooooooooooh spray oil is the way to go Edgar, t'is less guiltyfying.

It dosen't go as crispy tho Sad

Eggy bread is savoury. If you're feeling posh add cheese and Worcester sauce for Welsh Rarebit (and a tomato if you're showing off).

French toast is sweet, usually with raisins or sultanas and is made with custard mixture rather than just eggs.

But on no account should either be made using naice bread!

Blatherskite · 29/03/2011 09:14

Why spoil a nice bacon sarnie with ketchup?

Ketchup is for sausage sandwiches.

EdwardorEricCantDecide · 29/03/2011 09:15

I agree should defo be thick cheap White bread and served only with ketchup

Now wondering wether to have eggy bread or nutella toast for brekkie

scottishmummy · 29/03/2011 09:18

white value bread, medium sliced served with brown sauce thats French toast

Georgimama · 29/03/2011 09:22

No no no brown sauce is for sausage sandwiches.

OK, got the bacon bap - I'm going in......

Georgimama · 29/03/2011 09:22

Nom nom nom

scottishmummy · 29/03/2011 09:33

bap?thats slang for breasts you need well fired roll .

BringBackGoingForGold · 29/03/2011 10:38

Sausage sandwiches need brown sauce. Bacon sandwiches need no adulterating at all.

Blatherskite · 29/03/2011 11:26

Well fired = burnt by the looks of it :)

It's definitely baps, they are vaguely boob shaped after all. Rolls at a push. Definitely not cobs!

I'm with BringBackGoingForGold - bacon needs no adulterating with ketchup. It's perfect just as it is and only needs white bread and a little butter.

BringBackGoingForGold · 29/03/2011 11:33

Nooooooo, no butter either!!

CaveMum · 29/03/2011 11:48

For all the sausage snobs out there I highly recommend Musks Newmarket Sausages - suppliers of sausages to the Queen dontcha know Wink

MrsChemist · 29/03/2011 12:21

I've never heard of these Debbie and Andrew poshages. Am I missing out on something special?

I usually buy my poshages from the market.

ApocalypseCheeseToastie · 29/03/2011 13:24

Oh yes mrschemis, they're really, really good.

NOT as good as proper cumberland sausage (not the knock off shite the good Cumbrian stuff) but still good non the less

ipswichwitch · 29/03/2011 13:45

CheerfulYank · 29/03/2011 18:30

Blatherskite · 29/03/2011 18:34

Here you go Yank - Brown Sauce

CheerfulYank · 29/03/2011 18:38

Hmm...will have to try some sometime :)

kittybuttoon · 29/03/2011 18:38

Eggy bread made with anything other than cheap, medium-sliced, white is an offence under section 5 of the Public Order Act.
