I have never seen so many threads about a single subject before or since the "child benefit being withdrawn for some people" news.

Oddly the complainants were generally not single people earning enough to pay higher rate tax and presumably having to pay non-tax deductible childcare, but rather people who were non-earners outside of the home and part of a couple where someone else was. And the loss of £10 per week was considered to be a terrible thing.

And that in the same week the cuts to vulnerable people raising children on benefits and disabled people were announced hardly raised a eyebrow outside of the main boards.
