to be more excited about tonight's conclusion to 'The Killing' than I ever have been about a tv programme?

Or a film, for that matter.

And also to be rather sad that after tonight, Saturday evenings will go back to being the worst telly night; a barren wasteland devoid of Lund's fetching snowflake jumpers... Sad

Please don't post any spoilers on this thread!!

I can't wait either. The beeb have bought the second series as well.

Prunnhilda · 26/03/2011 08:38

YANBU, I'm the same Grin
I really really can't wait.
I think I'll have a tissue at the ready, though - if it is who I think it is, it's going to be sad.

carabos · 26/03/2011 08:41

ooh when does the second series start? I read that the only characters who migrate to the second series are Lund and Brix? We're going on holiday tonight so will have to watch on Catch up when we get back.

DaffodilsAndScillas · 26/03/2011 08:48

Who do you think did it Prunnhilda? Theis?

Meyer doesn't miraculously come back from the dead then, carabos? Sad

And no more Hartmann

atswimtwolengths · 26/03/2011 09:00

I agree. I've been beside myself over the last ten weeks, to the extent that I had to stop looking at The Killing thread because I was driven almost demented by it all. I couldn't get it out of my head and would dream about it.

Then I made the mistake of reading a Guardian page where it said what happened in each episode. They didn't actually say who did it but it was a hell of a spoiler. It did spoil it for me.

But tonight.... I just can't wait! Feel like going back and watching it all again though now, to see how it all works.

atswimtwolengths · 26/03/2011 09:01

Carabos, that's the sort of spoiler that well... spoils it! For many, it was Brix who was to blame.

carabos · 26/03/2011 09:04

Sorry - didn't realise that anyone might have considered him and certainly didn't mean to post a spoiler . I have no idea and I'm deliberately not guessing. The interview was with the actress who played Sara and she didn't know until they filmed the last episode.

DaffodilsAndScillas · 26/03/2011 09:12

Oh dear I've realised the implications now of Brix being in the next series... presumably it wasn't him who shot Meyer then?

OP posts:
Prunnhilda · 26/03/2011 09:20

THAT WAS A SPOILER [cross]
(I didn't think it was him Grin)

I'm not saying who I think it was. Well, I think it was more than one person.

I think the BBC must be ASTONISHED at the success of a long-running (compared to their usual short-attention-span guff), buried-on-BBC4, subtitled series with a female lead.

If anyone from the BBC is reading this, your schedules have been shite for years, so thank you for this improvement Grin

atswimtwolengths · 26/03/2011 09:43

But why would they be astonished if they'd done their homework? Given it was huge in Denmark with people gambling on the outcome, couldn't they guess it might be big here?

DaffodilsAndScillas · 26/03/2011 09:46

I agree with Prunnhilda, atswim - I reckon if they'd realised it was going to be so popular then they would have put it on BBC1 or 2.

YANBU. My first thought on waking this morning was 'oooh, final episode of The Killing tonight' Grin

Prunnhilda · 26/03/2011 09:51

Nothing on BBC4 has ever been talked about in the way this has. I think the BBC as a whole underestimates people tbh.

JulesJules · 26/03/2011 09:54

I am ridiculously excited about watching the final two episodes. Grin

I am insisting that we watch them both "live" tonight - we usually sky+ them and watch one on Sunday night. Cannot risk hearing the outcome before we watch it!

somedogsbite · 26/03/2011 10:02

YANBU...well if you are, then so am I:D

I don't have TV, so glad I stumbled across it on i-player as it is now the highlight of my week! I've been going to bed so late on Saturdays as I have to watch it all, then can't sleep for thinking about it Blush

DaffodilsAndScillas · 26/03/2011 10:38

I love the idea of Danish themed snacks! I've decided to swear in Danish from now on, to avoid my DD fining me 50p every time I say fuck. Grin

Accidentally started new thread on this....whoops! Smile
YES! Am ridiculously excited - still have no idea who did it!

atswimtwolengths · 26/03/2011 17:01

I have to say I can't think of one Danish themed snack!

Salmotrutta · 26/03/2011 17:24

Pickled Rollmop herring?

I'm loving this series too - I also really enjoyed Wallander so I'm thinking the Scandinavians are good at this!!

Stanislas · 26/03/2011 17:29

Has noone else thought of danish pastries

oldbatteryhen · 26/03/2011 17:51

Yeah, Swedish Wallander was classy Smile

DaffodilsAndScillas · 26/03/2011 18:04

mmmmm...danish pastries

Counting down now.

"Nothing on BBC4 has ever been talked about in the way this has. I think the BBC as a whole underestimates people tbh."

The Swedish Wallander was. You only need to read the thread on the Points of View message board to see just how much the series was appreciated.

Salmotrutta There was a documentary on TV recently about the popularity of Scandinavian crime drama - in literature and on TV. I have just bought OH the first two books in the Millennium series by Stieg Larsson and am looking forward to reading them myself.

Prunnhilda · 26/03/2011 20:35

You're right, I forgot about that.
OK I take it back Grin
Anyway.....25 mins to go, I am rather too excited!
