to consider moving my baby into his nursery?

Put this in parenting but didn't get any luck, any help appreciated. I have an 8 week old son who currently sleeps in a Moses basket in our room, only problem is ay night he wakes very easily due to noise, such as when my husband and I turn over in bed we have an old metal framed bed and when it creaks he wakes, starts frying and wants to be comforted if (just occasionally thank god) my husband let's out a loud snore, again the baby wakes and wants to be comforted.
The baby is overtired a lot in the day due to lack of sleep at night (luckily can now get him down for naps) and I am exhausted from constantly waking.
It's too early to try him in his nursery with a monitor though isn't it?

Trouble is, if feels like if you put your baby in the nursery, some people will make you feel like you are actively trying to kill him/her. Does anyone ever follow religiously all these ever-changing guidelines about everything?
Make me wonder how the human race ever survived!

How does the 'advice' work for when baby is asleep during the day? Baby asleep in front room, mum in kitchen cooking....

I really can't go either way on this subject, my baby is due August.

Re: the getting into cars analogy. "Guidelines" for cars tell you to put your child in the back, in a carseat, with a belt on, drive on the correct side of the road, within a certain speed limit, respecting traffic lights etc. If you do that, you minimise risks of dying in an RTA.

Like having your baby in your room for 6mths minimises the risk of SIDS.

You need to do what you think is best but I personally think it is too early. Babies can sleep through noise and I think the SIDS guidelines are there to follow for good reason - I especially find the fact that babies learn more about breathing by listening to you breathe.

Hope you find the right decision for you x

I am facing a similar dilemma just now, my DD is almost 4 months and getting too big for the swinging crib which is in our bedroom just now and for her moses basket which is downstairs for daytime naps. My husband is for putting her in her nursery which is right next door to our bedroom in her cotbed, our bedroom is not that big and there is no way we can move the cotbed in with us. She is an excellent sleeper and has slept through since 6 weeks old. I know that the cotbed will be much comfier for her than the crib as it has a proper sprung mattress where the crib only has a thin foam one but I'm not quite brave enough to try it yet, I still wake in the night and lean over to hear her breathing so I know if I put her in her own room, even with a monitor, I will probably be up all the time checking on her and will be knackered all day, if I get out of bed I find it hard to get back to sleep whereas if she is in the crib I don't have to get up. I know I will have to put her in on her own soon but it's going to be so sad when I do, I haven't spent a night away from her since she was born Sad.

both mine moved at around 7/8 months. They started in a crib and luckily the cot fitted in our room along the bottom of the bed so they were in the cot for a few months before going into their own bedroom.

Heidikat, I had same issue. DS was 91st percentile and outgrew Moses basket very quickly. Given the risk of SIDS is so low anyway and sleeping in same room is just one of many factors I chose to move him into the nursery next door and didnt particularly worry about it. He was of course fine.
