to be annoyed when cosmetics companies change their formulations?

I am (was) a big fan of Eve Lom TLC Cream. It is (was) truly wonderful. Every night after scrubbing my face with Eve Lom Cleanser and the accompanying muslin cloth, I would slather on the TLC Cream. I would then wake up with beautiful, glowing, plump skin.

However... recently I bought two pots of TLC Cream. I noticed when I opened one of the new pots that the cream looked different - kind of fluffier. Anyway, I didn't worry about it and used it as normal. When I woke up the following morning, my skin looked dreadful. Not at all like it used to look like after using the TLC cream.

I used it for a few days and wondered if it could actually be my skin rather than the cream, but then I found a small sample-sized pot of the old TLC Cream. I used that and, you guessed it, the next day my skin looked beautiful, like it used to look with the old TLC Cream.

So, they have obviously changed the formulation and I am really mad. I wonder if it was a 'cost saving exercise' in which case I am even madder.

I want to complain but feel a bit of an idiot. Also, I wouldn't know how to complain as I have never complained about anything in my life (apart from my constant grumbling on Mumsnet, of course Blush).

So, AIBU to be angry about this, and if not, what can I do about it?

Ta.

You cant really do anything about it.

It happens all the time in cosmetics to groceries. Just as you get comfortable with a product, they'll change it.

It gets the consumer buying more crap they dont like, just to try and find something close to what they used before. A good way for them to boost sales. Annoying customers doesnt even phase them.

Bastards.

Indeed!

I've had so many favourite products, then the company will change the 'recipe' leaving me to hunt for a replacement.

It's a shame hardly any company focuses on their customers and instead prefers to drive their profit margins up, even if it alienates consumers to an extent.

It's actually been changed for the better, better quality ingredients and less parabens :)

go back and request a refund if you're that upset.

Agree with you entirely. I came to like particular knickers from M&S - now I find they've disappeared off the shelves. Need to try and get used to something else. I suppose the answer is if there's something out there you really really like, then bulk buy!

YANBU and I agree entirely.

I have after many years of searching and lots of money wasted found a new skin care product (actually 3, cleanser, toner & moisturiser) that doesn't make my face feel like the skin is burning off.

I have experience of companies changing their formulations so as soon as I found this, I bulk bought and now have about 6 of each sat in the top of my wardrobe. Blush
