Am sitting and admiring the first garden I have ever had, without my coat on, enjoying beautiful warm sunshine on my face. The birds are singing and it is so peaceful.

We had a horrific start to the year, we lost our business, had to go bankrupt and find a new home, but now the dust has settled we are happier than we have ever been. The last year has truly made me realize what is important in life.

We are all healthy, we have a loving family, we may be skint and own precisely nothing but none of that stuff matters anymore.

Tis a great thing that sunshine. You sound as if you've made a lot of peace with yourself. enjoy it.

E320 · 23/03/2011 12:09

That sounds lovely! I have just cut the grass, so I am with you there on the sunshine and birds.
Good that you are feeling much happier!

pommedeterre · 23/03/2011 12:09

We turned our garden (my first ever too!) from a gravel pit into something with lawn and decking last autumn so yesterday and today are the first days I have been able to go out in it. it is a lovely thing! We have put a little swing up for dd too.
I am with you in the garden love :)

Sunshine is fab and nothing better than being able to enjoy it right outside your house Grin

Very impressed with your attitude, and you've actually given me the kick up the bum I needed to stop the worrying about problems that aren't problems that I've been doing all day, and just enjoy the fact I have a nice house with a lovely suntrap area that weather willing I will get to enjoy all summer. Thank you.

What a lovely op!

Enjoy your garden. Smile

LaWeasel · 23/03/2011 12:13

We have our first every lawn this year! I have been out their weeding (it is more weeds than grass!) the cat and DD love it and so do I. Grin

Glad your life is getting together.

Laquitar · 23/03/2011 12:15

Your OP made me smile.

Enjoy your garden and your lovely family Smile

Mymblesson · 23/03/2011 12:15

How lovely!

So glad you're happy. It's often the case when all the lumber is cut away you realise what you really have and what's really important.

I've been feeling a bit miserable today, so thanks for cheering me up! Smile

MrsBloomingTroll · 23/03/2011 13:02

Sounds lovely OP. Good for you for having such a positive attitude! I wish more people, myself included at times, could be like you.

I'm sitting at the kitchen table with the back door open, listening to the birds and looking at the daffs in the sunshine.

And I've just heard some baby birds chirping!

turdass · 23/03/2011 13:34

Yes, even the bad times don't last forever. Had a shitty year last year myself but hey ho, onwards and upwards I say!

startail · 23/03/2011 13:44

What a lovely OP BettySpaghettiOnAJetty
Enjoy the sunshine and the best of luck.

It's beautiful here too, went for a walk to see the wild daffodils and saw Brimstone, comma and peacock butterflies as well Grin Grin Grin

Vallhala · 23/03/2011 13:47

That makes lovely reading, Betty. May all your summers be as peaceful, sunny and contented.

ohmeohmy · 23/03/2011 14:31

just made cookies, hung the washing outside for first time in ages, been out on my bike and can hear the birds. Long may this sunshine continue!

MaisyMooCow · 23/03/2011 14:32

Thank you for sharing. Such a refreshing change to the gloom and doom we hear so much of! Enjoy :)

ChippingInMistressSteamMop · 23/03/2011 14:37

That's lovely :)

As you say, 'stuff' really doesn't matter... as long as you are all OK and sitting in the garden in the sunshine is the icing on the cake!

It's a lovely day here - but bloody cold!! The washing is blowing about on the line - if it stood still long enough it got shoved in the machine this morning - sleeping bags and allsorts! The neighbours cat is sitting here (yes, I say neighbours cat?!) looking a tad nervous! Grin

YANBU. I took a stroll into town earlier for a few bits before realising I had forgotten my wallet. Doh. So I took DD (7 months) to the swings by the water for the first time instead, watching her face as she swung backwards and forwards in the sunshine was priceless. I feel very lucky.

Nice thread.
