Not to pay into this collection

I know this sounds petty, but I have worked in my job for 8 years and twice I have been on maternity leave.

Not once I have I had a collection done for me, so why should I pay into one for someone who has been there less than a year

for maternity leave? YANBU everyone else is! Have a lot of the staff changed though? Maybe it was started by someone who wasn't around when you had yours and didn't know it hadn't been done before, or knew it hadn't been done and thought it should be? The others would then have gone along with it. I think you need to find out who started it, if it was someone who was there when you had your DC's then be pissed off and refuse to pay

I think I'd pay in a small amount while saying loudly, 'How lovely to have a maternity present, things like that really mean a lot to someone. It's nice to know your COLLEAGUES APPRECIATE YOU AND WISH YOU WELL.'

Yanbu. Before I went on mat leave the head of department sent an email around all the team leads (including me) for someone elses mat leave collection. But didn't send one for mine. I didn't get the flowers from work either

YABU. It's not the poor girl's fault that no one did one for you. Harbouring bitterness about it is petty and puerile. Just pay your couple of quid in and forget about it.

I would be pissed off.

Have you wondered why they did not collect for you?

Maybe they like her more than you? We can;t all be liked by everyone - I organised a collection for someone at work because I was close to them and liked them - other women have not had collections done as they didn;t have such close working relationships with anyone who gives a toss.
