To put off getting a car until next year?

When my ex moved out I had to spend half of my savings, £1000 on credit cards, £300 on a store card and I still have £100 outstanding on a next catalogue.
I told the kids I'd get a car before summer but after looking at the budget, I don't think that is very realistic, if I don't get this stuff paid off the interest will criple us.
I feel guilty because we won't be able to go far in the summer hols but I am doing the right thing arnt I? I mean - repaying debt has to come first right?

Yes, pay the debt first, you can always do days out via coach or train or even hire a car if need be.

You might buy the car but filling it with petrol with current pump prices will certainly set you back!

I've never had a car since I've had the kids as I think car expenses and petrol are just overpriced here. We've been across the country and abroad with no problems. There are such things as trains and buses, you know Grin.
