Play doh that is.

she is my dd, she is 2yrs 4mnths and has some seriously weird habbits, i battle all day with her over more important things, ive checked its non toxic and now im leaving her to it letting her feel the smug satifaction that shes getting one over on me,

shes quiet, im mumsnetting, aibu?

Just take it off her and tell her no?

Or am I being far too sensible in assuming the adult should be in charge? Grin

It's not food. Take it off her.

Imnotaslimjim · 21/03/2011 11:00

YABU, she needs to learn that it isn't food. I had the same issue with DD (now 2.11) at about the same age. EVERYTHING went in her mouth. But we persevered and she got a timeout every time anything non-food went in her mouth. I was terrified she would choke or poison herslef, so I'm glad we did it

kreecherlivesupstairs · 21/03/2011 11:00

DD used to eat it. That was fine when it was hers. When she started going to toddler groups and got really sick a couple of times (really hospitalised once sick) I decided that she couldn't ever ever ever play with it again. She hasn't.

I wouldn't let my son eat play doh...it's for playing with, not eating. Maybe tell her if she's hungry she can have a yoghurt/piece of fruit? Offer her them and explain that you'll be taking the play doh away if she doesn't stop eating it.

I know the feeling re picking your battles but I couldn't allow my DS to eat play doh!

JjandtheBeanlovesUnicorns · 21/03/2011 11:04

she will only eat her own bright pink one, and its not huge handfulls just the odd little bit.

i just took the pink away she wasnt happy aparently the blue is yuck, shes playing with that and so far none eaten... children are weird.
