So he goes away and DS will be out/working.

So I have total control ....of everything!

I love that.

I own the remote. I can Mumsnet ad infinitum. I can dance the fandango in the nude.

I'm soooo excited.

Yes, I know it's sad .... but that's what makes you excited when you are 50+!!!

When you leave a room tidy you'll return to - a tidy room Shock

Enjoy it for the rest of us too Envy

YANBU. Me and DD love it when DH goes away (rarely). We do love it when he comes home though.
Every year he goes to Thailand to do some diving and meet up with friends. It is sad to take him to the aiport but great collecting him. Me and DD generally go away ourselves for a couple of days. This year we will be planning our big move to England.

LoveBeingKnockedUp · 20/03/2011 07:09

Good for you make sure you enjoy yourself and don't do boring stuff. I've got mon off work, dh at work and I will be taking dd to nursery.

CheerfulYank · 20/03/2011 07:14

My DH has to go to Las Vegas for work for a week, and I'm kind of looking forward to it too! :)

Salmotrutta · 20/03/2011 10:42

Don't get me wrong - I love DH but it's fun to be able to call all the shots for a few days:

I can read as late as I like in bed without DH grumbling "Turn that light off"

I can eat any old crap if I don't feel like cooking (DS pretty much sorts himself out)

I might go shopping then stash stuff and airily say "Oh this old thing? I've had it for ages!"

I can stay up late and get up late (on days I'm not working obviously!)

Of course the downside is:

When DS stays out I will lie in bed wondering when the serial killer/burglar/vampire/werewolf/zombie is going to break in!!

Blimey! My best ever 'holiday' was last year when I had a week off work, my DS had a week off school and my DP went to Ireland for the week to see his Grandparents.

Had a lovely time, just me and my little dude chilling out together, cooking, watching musicals, painting.

In the evenings I'd sit out in the garden and just relax............!

Don't feel bad, time to yourself is a good thing.

Oblomov · 20/03/2011 11:50

oh I love it too. dh hardly goes away at all.But he has a new job now and will be going away to LA, New York, Toronto. for a few days/week. Can't wait. Jealous I'm not going. But love being on my own. If the house is a mess, who cares. And then I look forward to him coming back. = perfect.

"I love DH but it's fun to be able to call all the shots for a few days"

Blimey, I do that when he´s here anyway!

I hate it when he´s away-the children come to me with homework problemsGrin

Salmotrutta · 20/03/2011 12:13

Hahahaha diddl - I get to call some of the shots too when DH is here, but you know what I mean. Just being able to do whatever you like is fun.

Also he snores (loudly) so I will get some quality sleep Grin - when I'm not worrying about intruders obviously!!! Grin

Grin

Well, I guess I´m lucky-husband rarely watches TV, so I watch what I want.

He has his lunch at the works canteen, so I just cook for myself & the kids midday & never cook in the evening.

He can sleep when my light is on, so read as much as I want in bed.

But I worry about break ins when he´s not here.

Although, the chances aren´t really increased by him not being here-are they?

In the past I´ve ben known to go to bed at 2 & up at 6!

purepurple · 20/03/2011 15:18

YANBU
I love it when DH has his overseas business meetings.
I can watch what I want and not football.
I can eat chip sarnies for tea
I can mumsnet all evening
I get the whole bed to myself
and I get pressies when he comes back Grin

Salmotrutta · 20/03/2011 15:27

Ooooh - I want a chip sarnie now!!

And I was forgetting the pressie bit too!

It's a win-win all round really Grin

YADNBU

My DH is off to Paris at the end of the week. I am particularly looking forward to having our kingsize bed ALL to myself. Grin

Also eating all the things he doesn't like.

Ahh.....

MalkieFraser · 20/03/2011 16:23

I love it when DH goes away, which isn't very often. Enjoy yourself :)

pilates · 20/03/2011 16:27

Your washload will reduce dramatically. When hubby was away managed to have an empty wash basket which is unheard of in our house.

AllGoodNamesGone · 20/03/2011 16:28

Loving this thread!

Mine goes away rarely too and the first thing I do is clean and dry the kitchen sink and surrounding area and it stays clean and dry until he gets back! Lovely!

(I do wash up but I am capable of doing so without soaking the entire area!)

And, as it's only for a few days, me and the kids are quite happy to live off scrambled eggs on toast, beans on toast, sandwiches and the odd takeaway - hardly any cooking - bliss!

Salmotrutta · 26/03/2011 00:24

Hah! I'm loving it ...... free access to True Blood without Mr Moany McMoanface moaning at my programme choice
And swigging wine to my heart's content. Bliss

Oh, yes, even an evening is great! As long as it's a proper evening, not just back an hour after dc in bed so I've done the work but can't enjoy the solitude!
