To be ridiculously excited about what I am cooking for dinner tonight?

Or is it just a sad reflection of how empty my life is?
I am even looking forward to going to the shop now to buy the ingredients.

What are you cooking?

FetchezLaVache · 16/03/2011 11:20

YANBU. I am making pistachio ice cream later on and extremely excited about it.

So, what is it you're making?

5inthebed · 16/03/2011 11:20

Whatcha making?

ArfurBrain · 16/03/2011 11:21

well i'm excited about my lunch and it's only a baked spud so YANBU.
what is it?

TheReturnoftheSmartArse · 16/03/2011 11:22

Whatcha making?! I need ideas (but not steak and BJ, please - DH is away!)

kreecherlivesupstairs · 16/03/2011 11:22

braised pork shoulder with apricots, fennel, celery and orange and ginger. Written down it doesn't look that thrilling, but there's sherry vinegar and lemon thyme too.

I'm making bang bang chicken with coriander omelette and I'm very excited ( hough that might be just due to the name of the dish!)

5inthebed · 16/03/2011 11:24

Is there room for one more?

daimbardiva · 16/03/2011 11:29

Not at all - I get excited almost every day about dinner. IT's the highlight of my day :) Yours all sound very nice!

ArfurBrain · 16/03/2011 11:44

ooh I say, what time is dinner served?

TheReturnoftheSmartArse · 16/03/2011 11:54

Kreecher, to be brutally honest, I can't be doing with the orange in your dish. I can't abide fruit with meat, although I will put up with some very finely chopped apricots in a tagine, for example! Other than that, though, it sounds delish!

God knows what we're having tonight. Bits and bobs, probably. DH is away so I don't feel quite as bound to do a proper meal as I usually do. And the DDs both have something on later. DD1 will eat anything, DD2 will probably want mussels and DS is a fussy little beggar and may well end up with nutella on toast. And I will snack on all the leftovers in the fridge.

spooktrain · 16/03/2011 11:57

YANBU if you are actually going to make it

YABU if, like me, you get excited at reading Jamie Oliver's 30 minute meals and imagining yourself making all of the things when you know there isn't a flying fart's chance you're actually ever going to make any of them. Ever.

kreecherlivesupstairs · 16/03/2011 12:15

I couldn't buy an orange Shock, the only ones for sale were in three kilo bags and the greengrocer is closed for lunch. I couldn't get any pork shoulder either so we're having chops.
I don't have any cookery books so I get inspiration from the newspapers. Todays dinner is courtesy of the Telegraph.
Sadly, I am still excited.

Very upset that my apricots don't appear to have plumped up as promised. Oh well, onward and upward.

nothign wrong with being excited.

I'm almost wetting myself in excitement for my new chicken house and run that was installed today.

In fact, I even d.

kreecherlivesupstairs · 16/03/2011 14:21

I think your excitement is more justified than mine. I would really love to have chickens but two things stop me.
I am terrified of birds in general.
We don't eat a lot of eggs
The third is that when we move to England, DD has been promised two kittens. In my mind the hens would peck the kittens to pieces.

nickelbabysnatcher · 16/03/2011 14:33

i think you should havce promised your DD two chickens
it sounds nearly the same.

they wouldn't peck the kittens to death.

how are you scared of birds?
is it he flying?

you need chickens to help you get over your phobia.

nickelbabysnatcher · 16/03/2011 14:33

the flying

kreecherlivesupstairs · 16/03/2011 14:47

Not the flying, I can't describe what it is that scares me. Last night I was watching a blackbird calling/singing and thought how sweet it was. I was able to do that through the window, there's no way I could be anywhere closer.
DD stamps at pigeons to move them on which has the opposite effect, they seem to fly straight at me.

nickelbabysnatcher · 16/03/2011 14:49

oh dear
Grin
(sorry, it was the image of them flyign towards not away that the grin was for. it's :( that you're scared)

moondog · 16/03/2011 14:50
