So some friends have invited us to watch last England game of six nations and to eat next Saturday. I am on call they understand that I may have to slip out etc. Then DH goes and offers that I will give someone else a lift at the time I said no as I am on call they live 20 minutes drive from us.
Later last night DH says I am being unreasonable and it's okay he will collect them. I point out that he will get pissed (he will) and I will end up taking them back, which for the already mentioned reason I don't want to do.
All this was discussed when he was pissed from yesterdays game yet still can't see that he will be even more pissed next week.
So who is being unreasonable?

He is, unless he agrees to stay sober so that he can take them home.

Vallhala · 14/03/2011 11:46

He is of course.

Please whack around the head until he sees sense. Then call said friends and say that you can't offer to drive them as you're on call and that although DH says he will you cannot guarantee that he will keep HIS promise to them and let them get on with it and get cross with DH, not you.

(He would be unreasonable regardless on the grounds that you are a dog-loving vet, he is a rugby fan and he is male). :o

LilRedWG · 14/03/2011 11:47

He is. If you are on call, you are on call.

Maybe explain to the people he has offered a lift to that you are on call and DH will pick them up but they will probably have to make their own way home.

MorticiaAddams · 14/03/2011 11:48

He is being unreasonable but can't you explain the situation and say they'll need to make their own arrangements if you get called out.

Lizcat · 14/03/2011 11:52

I have told him that he needs to retract the offer as he should have checked with me first (he has a serial history of making unreasonable suggestions when I am on call and he is pissed).
LOL at the thought if him staying sober as we are probably going to win the six nations - I love him to bits. but he is barely able to stand after England win.

His friend will just have to make their own way home if your DP is pissed.

poopnscoop · 14/03/2011 12:07

Your DH has made the arrangement - you have said you're on call. So if you do need to go, go... and don't even think (worry) about the other folk getting home - it was your DHs offer, not yours, they are adults and can catch a cab/make their own way home.
