Yes
its a good film

PigeonMalteaserMadness · 13/03/2011 21:23

I agree. IABU.

Ollie Reed's last performance in it too.

Roll up, roll up and at least find something to talk to me about

YADBU. It's one of my favourite films, possibly the favourite, depending on my mood. And it has Joaquin Phoenix in it. What's not to like? Are you not entertained?! Grin

But I have to pull you up on the fact that it's on Sky 2, not Sky 1, in case anyone reading this thread wants to watch it.

Hassled · 13/03/2011 21:52

DS1 loves it so much he knows the timing number thingy on the DVD player for the "My name is Maximus Decimus Meridius" speech.

I think it's a great film. Could have done without the hanging wife and son bit, but still good. Joaquim Whatsit was great in it.

RustyRainbow · 13/03/2011 21:52

Well i mentioned it on the 'films you hate' thread the other day - as it is a prime example of the 'using the death of wife and children to move the plot along' - there are many of these types of films.

I hate them....

GetOrfMoiLand · 13/03/2011 21:54

Ha! I hate this pile o'shite as well.

The. Way. Every. Sentence. He. Utters. Is. Like. Something. Deeply. Profound. Has. Been. Uttered.

I am firmly on the side of Commodus, tbh.

GetOrfMoiLand · 13/03/2011 21:54

Ba overuse of uttered.

It is such a BLOKE film, this one.

PigeonMalteaserMadness · 13/03/2011 21:56

Oh yes, the Keanu Reeves in Point break school of acting:

"I! Am! An! F! B! I! A! Gent!"

OP posts:
GetOrfMoiLand · 13/03/2011 21:57

lol Grin

Like when Keanu is in Dracula and has to ACT! whilst speaking with an ENGLISH ACCENT at the same time! You can almost see the steam coming out his ears, gawd bless him.

PigeonMalteaserMadness · 13/03/2011 22:06

Grin Dear Lord I had forgotten about a film role asking Keanu to act. It was painful.

RustyRainbow · 13/03/2011 22:14

Rather liked him oiled and evil in 'Much Ado' though....Grin

PigeonMalteaserMadness · 13/03/2011 22:18

No don't do that BTP - come back....

We have queer giraffes and terrible special effects involving tigers to come Sad

Gorgeous music score though.

PigeonMalteaserMadness · 13/03/2011 22:19

I have thought about asking DH to talk in that exact voice during sex

fatlazymummy · 13/03/2011 22:22

I like this film. I always cry at the bit when he dies, so in my humble opinion you are being a tad unreasonable.

such a good movie. might watch later after I watch taken.

IloveJudgeJudy · 13/03/2011 22:24

I won't have anything said against this film. I absolutely love it, and especially Russell Crowe in it. Not in any other film, only as Maximus.

That's okay fatlazymummy but surely there are some bits you can laugh at?

I love Titanic in many respects but I always ROAR when weedy Leo catches substantial Kate Winslet by one hand as she is about to plunge into the ocean and doesn't go straight over the side after her Grin
