polycotton feels horrible and looks sort of dead on the bed Grin I need to get out more!

BoffinMum · 13/03/2011 14:54

I quite fancy that Mr Men bedset on the Marks site, for me I mean.

pigletmania · 13/03/2011 14:57

The graffitti and denim jeans ones are awful Envy thats boak emotion not envy lol

IloveJudgeJudy · 13/03/2011 14:58

Mine has stuff from Primark as he doesn't want any character stuff. Is polycotton, though. My thinking is that you have to iron cotton and it's much more expensive.

FattyArbuckel · 13/03/2011 15:00

polycotton hardly better than 100% nylon imo

tyler80 · 13/03/2011 15:00

I don't iron bedsheets, cotton or no cotton.

noddyholder · 13/03/2011 15:02

I don't iron them either

BoffinMum · 13/03/2011 15:10

I fail to see why polycotton is so dreadful> Nothing worse than crumply cotton sheets.

noddyholder · 13/03/2011 15:15

Our sheets are fitted and not crumply one night of warmth sleeping in them and they are smooth. The feel of cotton is just lovely polycotton always seems rough

colditz · 13/03/2011 15:33

Ikea does THE best selection of cotton bedding, for an extremely reasonable price without using ethically dubious practices.

ikea

givemethestrongestcheese · 13/03/2011 15:39

I agree with someone above - just buy white sheets.

If you don't want white for some reason, M and S do (or used to last time I looked) a range of 100% cotton that is minimal iron (something to do with the weave). In plain colours Grin

foxinsocks · 13/03/2011 15:42

I raid John Lewis/bentalls every sale time for their 100% cotton bed stuff. It is the only sale I check thoroughly in advance and then order online or go in and browse and get loads of stuff. Is definitely worth it.

When you can buy 100% cotton double duvet sets in Ikea for 5 quid (reduced from 20 odd) as I did on Friday, why buy polycotton?

polycotton is sweaty and cheap looking, nowhere near as comfortable as pure cotton - altogether EWWW

Pure cotton is also better if you have any sort of skin complaint. I have eczema and polycotton aggravates it terribly.

TKMaxx can be really good for pure cotton bed linen. I've had some real bargains from there.

CointreauVersial · 13/03/2011 22:21

Oooh, the bed-linen snobs are out in force today. Grin I was waiting for someone to mention thread-count.

MillyR · 13/03/2011 22:47

DS has blue gingham cotton duvet covers. They came from Laura Ashley, who have sales on a lot.

MillyR · 13/03/2011 22:48

These ones, although they are not in a sale at the moment:
