What ways have you found to tell posters they're being a cock but without getting your post deleted?

Of course you could use calm, reasoned debate.

But where's the fun in that?? Grin

It's not often I feel the need to personally attack a poster, but one of the two times I have I said that if anyone said that in RL I'd feel obliged to tell them they're were a fucking prick (or some such words).

I suppose you could censor yourself and substitute swears for benign words.

If bloody became chubby, and cock became chicken, the poster you were insulting might feel a bit of an idiot complaining to MN about being called a chubby chicken? Grin

Would scoring out the insult mean you've still attacked them do you think?

'Now you're just being a fuckwit silly billy ShittyPoster'.

Yeah, yeah, it's immature/not nice to be horrible to other posters, but needs must and all that.

i do think if someone pisses you off that much you need to be direct.
I called someone a fucking nobbing twat or somesuch last week but don't think it got deleted.

bibbitybobbityhat · 12/03/2011 15:53

I say "you are just being silly now". Or words to that effect.

I once said someone was "being an arse" and got deleted. I actually thought the person was being a real fucking idiot, so I should have just said that for the satisfaction of saying it out loud before it got deleted!

ChickensHaveNoEyebrows · 12/03/2011 15:55

I like a passive aggressive Hmm myself. Just Hmm

Pagwatch · 12/03/2011 15:57

I have my pag patented method. I will tell you but I charge if you use it.

I like

I used to know a woman who voiced that exact opinion. She was a total
cunt.

Thank you.

AgentZigzag · 12/03/2011 16:00

I'm making detailed notes for if the need arises again.

I like the patronising/pat on the head/'You'll understand when you're an adult' tone bibity.

Apologies for using the appalling example likening a twat to a chubby chicken ChickensHaveNoEyebrows, I didn't think of how the chickens would feel about reading that.

I use "Give over" a lot. To me, it means "You sound ridiculous, get a grip", and/or "I don't believe what you're saying".

RedFlagHag · 12/03/2011 16:04

I hate all the pissing about trying to be clever. Passive aggression is not my thing.

I've come dangerously close to telling you to fuck off today, AgentZigZag.

Wink
ChickensHaveNoEyebrows · 12/03/2011 16:05

I decided to let it go, Agent. I am in fact a relatively svelte chicken despite my arse

seeker · 12/03/2011 16:07

I love "loon"

Never heard of it before mumsnet, but it's perfect!

AgentZigzag · 12/03/2011 16:09
Shock

It was my razor sharp sarcasm wasn't it RedFlag?

G'on, I'll let you have a free pop seen as your a guest on my thread.

(I had to google svelte Chickens, I'd have been no match for you Grin)

YABU call them a cock..call them a chicken..call them a chicken's cock but never ever call them Chubby or all hell will break loose Grin

cornsilk678 · 12/03/2011 16:21

just call them a cunt
I also like the passive aggressive Smile and a nicely placed HTH at the end of your post:

You are a cunt Smile HTH

ChickensHaveNoEyebrows · 12/03/2011 16:26

Perhaps sticking with the poultry theme, you could say 'Gosh, you very much resemble a proven male chicken'.

Mamaz0n · 12/03/2011 16:27

I just say "you sound like an arse"

if it gets deleted it gets deleted. don't much care so long as the op saw it and realises she was being an arse

gooseberrybushes · 12/03/2011 16:27

My favourite. Not mine, but I copied it. And now everyone knows and will want one.

"Get a fucking grip.

HTH."

Awwwww. I love it.

gooseberrybushes · 12/03/2011 16:29

It's the passive aggressive that don't get deleted.

I prefer nob end. "Message deleted by mumsnet" is actually quite satisfying sometimes.

Though have had to apologise to hq for the deleting overtime recently Grin it was worth it

expatinscotland · 12/03/2011 16:29

this helps.

gooseberrybushes · 12/03/2011 16:30

Cornsilk you and me both Grin

gooseberrybushes · 12/03/2011 16:35

And also

"What the actual fuck."

which I just saw and like very much.

AgentZigzag · 12/03/2011 16:40

Imagining what the poster could have said when their post has been deleted is usually far worse that their actual insult.

But there's aways at least one helpful poster further on in the thread who quotes the insult before it gets deleted Grin

I love those posters.
