What ways have you found to tell posters they're being a cock but without getting your post deleted?

Of course you could use calm, reasoned debate.

But where's the fun in that?? Grin

It's not often I feel the need to personally attack a poster, but one of the two times I have I said that if anyone said that in RL I'd feel obliged to tell them they're were a fucking prick (or some such words).

I suppose you could censor yourself and substitute swears for benign words.

If bloody became chubby, and cock became chicken, the poster you were insulting might feel a bit of an idiot complaining to MN about being called a chubby chicken? Grin

Would scoring out the insult mean you've still attacked them do you think?

'Now you're just being a fuckwit silly billy ShittyPoster'.

Yeah, yeah, it's immature/not nice to be horrible to other posters, but needs must and all that.

Hi. Smile

It was me. Poor you. You must have really taken it to heart. Imagine copying, pasting, and bringing it over here.

UnquietDad · 13/03/2011 17:31

"Imagine" saying it in the first place.

constantlywrong · 13/03/2011 17:32

I just saw the "what the actual fuck" a minute ago, I think the only world appropriate for my response is that I guffawed

Has anyone yet found a suitable way of leaving an argument without either flouncing or conceding?

I've not seen "I won't carry on, it's not fair to engage in a battle of wits with an unarmed person" for a while. :)

gooseberrybushes · 13/03/2011 17:40

I meant it though: I explained on the thread. I'm sorry it upset you so.

NotbigNotfunnyNotclever · 13/03/2011 17:40

Can you just say that there are some complete cocks on this thread?

southeastastra · 13/03/2011 17:41

i just hide the thread or ignore it, can't be arsed with arguing the toss anymore on here, not worth it

You are entitled to your own opinion, even though others may disagree. This works well I have found.

NotbigNotfunnyNotclever · 13/03/2011 17:44

Yes, not going back works well to Grin

bibbitybobbityhat · 13/03/2011 17:45

Oh God, I just leave arguments all the time. No need to explain myself to anyone. And I don't feel like I always have to have the last word, so its easy to do.

There is a mnetter who I really can't stick. She is terribly argumentative and almost always ends up fighting to the death with someone or other. I just ignore her or leave the thread completely whenever I come across her. You can't get on with everyone.

I so wish we had an edit spelling facility, I always cock up.

blinder · 13/03/2011 18:46

I once saw the following:

Off you fuck, there's a love.

I now say it to the dog. It always makes me smile and she doesn't seem to care.

blinder · 14/03/2011 08:23

I seem to have killed the thread. Blush

I'll just fuck off myself shall I?

Psammead · 14/03/2011 08:36

Why would you need to insult/patronise/be passive agressive etc? I find that quite odd. Is that really how you think? Really? I prefer to use the merits of my argument. If the other person wont see reason, why would you feel the need to waste time arguing with them about it? Meh

Psammead · 14/03/2011 08:37

Those are some of my moves Wink

DuplicitousBitch · 14/03/2011 08:38

wot bibbity said.

bupcakesandcunting · 14/03/2011 09:29

I like passive aggressive smilies too. They seem to elicit such a disproportionate amount of rage.

euphrosyne · 14/03/2011 10:11

How about the good old Biscuit?

"Hey fuckwit poster, have a Biscuit.

HTH"

AgentZigzag · 14/03/2011 12:56

The time I talked about in the OP when I was shitty with a poster psammead, was when someone was arguing (yes arguing the toss) that Denise Fergus had brought on her son James Bulgers death by not keeping a better eye on him Hmm

She reckoned she knew someone who worked in a shop down from the butchers he was abducted from, and they'd told the poster Denise Fergus regularly didn't keep him close to her.

I felt under an obligation to tell her she was being a twat.

Tis often the people who are right wot get deleted.

bupcakesandcunting · 14/03/2011 13:16

I must have been right a lot of times then. Wink

gooseberrybushes · 14/03/2011 14:04

Me too, me too. Grin
