to think Kate Middleton looks ok?

Am genuinely mystified about the mauling she gets from the fashion press.

I quite like her style... and I also quite like the fact she isn't ostentatiously splashing cash on one-off outfits whilst most other people are counting every penny.

Can't decide if this means I am now officially old and past it or whether the media is misjudging the mood of the country.

I think she looks years older than she actually is because she is gaunt.

I really think that marrying someone who has never had a real job and who has seemingly very little personality ( no spirited woman could bear being the puppet she is) is a big mistake for him. I think it will be another failed royal marriage.

meh - consort is a full-time job. Look at Phillip. It's not like it's just cos she's a girl.

(though i agree her work history to date has been a bit half-hearted :-) I'm just playing Devil's Advocate)

But it's 50 years after Philip became consort, plus he had a bit of a job being in the Navy. God blueshoes I find your idea of what is needed to be a queen pretty depressing, think the current one has more balls than that!

i think she looks old for her age. other than that, she's pleasant looking and obviously they are both happy with each other. whats to complain about?

I think she's nice looking - the kind of woman often described as "handsome" though rather than pretty. Let's face it, William's no oil painting, is he? Talk about looking like your Dad prematurely.

Agree about Samantha Cameron while we're busy slagging off public figures, all I see when I look at her is gums gums gums.

Hockey, Kate is constrained by the constitution as to her role. She cannot be outspoken on politics or anything. A plucky lady would die a living death having to shake hands and grin all day and not fart. No wonder the queen keeps herself half soused all the time.

Saw Diana at close quarters in RL on a number of occasions and she was electrifyingly beautiful - much much more so than in photographs. Kate is average pretty, slim and dressed so as not to frighten the horses. Seriously not getting the SamCam thing - pleasant looking woman, but not able to carry off cutting edge fashion.

Interesting you say that carabos as I read in a magazine (so it must be true, obviously) that Kate is stunningly beautiful in real life... Think that this stuff probably doesn't translate in photos. After all, don't we all know someone who is really very average looking who always looks amazing and model-like in photos? (I grow a giant nose and an extra chin in photos )

I think Kate is prettier than Diana in photos. So if Diana is stunning, Kate would be off the scale!

I think she looks great (+5 - 10 lbs fabulous!) and is what I would consider to be perfect in the was she looks and behaves. She is a very attractive woman - not sure I would like her so much is she were merely a pretty girl .

I am rather alarmed that a style/fashion journalist who was interviewed on Radio 5 about her the other day said "she is lovely, she has curves, she doesn't need to lose any more weight" cos KM had said she was on a pre-wedding diet.

Curves? Excuse me?? Where???

If KM is curvy, what does that make the rest of us?

I really quite like her dress sense and find it quite refreshing that a public figure doesn't feel the need to look cutting-edge fashionable all the time.

I haven't really noticed any negative coverage though tbh... I'm not especially bothered about her either way but after the third fawning article I'd read in a week about what a great job she did pouring champagne over a lifeboat or whatever I was
As if she has any idea what a decent day's work is!

Mind you, I'm disappointed that she's never had a proper job. It wouldn't have killed her to work for a few years like the rest of the commoners!

Tell you what though I wouldn't go near that family with a bargepole. Not for them exactly but because she is going to be ripped apart, chewed up and spat out. Just like all the others.

On the other hand perhaps I should try to join the royal family, I would quite enjoy splashing my fat arse and driving the press insane by simply not giving a fuck.

Harry needs to bag himself a proper wild child who enjoys pushing everyone's buttons.

Yeah she looks OK. Not exactly the most original style ever, but she's supposed to be conservative.

Has anyone ever heard her speak on telly? I do find it slightly disturbing that the whole world is obsessed with a woman purely because of what she represents and what she wears, rather than anything she has said or done (by herself). It's really weird.
