I mean, it's not like your knickers need a full cycle to get clean?

DH and I wash our smalls after a shower/bath - they are never in the main laundry. My kids boxers/knickers are washed in washing machine with the rest of theit laundry though.

I thought about this this morning when I went to drop off my friends son. My friend had the whole washing line outside full of boxers and knickers!

I know there is a difference thumbwitch but I was responding to the slightly strange idea that undies need sterilising/disinfecting and god forbid your child's clothes should come into contact with your knickers in the washing machine!

I realise my knickerless state is odd to most people (I don't generally advertise the fact) but funnily enough since I stopped wearing pants I've never had thrush.

But each to their own - whether that's bleaching your gussets or handwashing your knicks despite having a machine Grin

jasminetom · 13/03/2011 12:18

Yuk to not washing underwear in the machine and yuk to hanging stuff on the line. I wash and tumble dry everything. Who wants grubby, crunchy pants?

OhYouBadBadKitten · 13/03/2011 12:25

how odd. our undies just get chucked in the washing machine with whatever wash is going on. I don't feel the need to wash 'down there' at 60 to get clean so why would my undies need that?

AmazingBouncingFerret · 13/03/2011 12:27

Ive only read the first page...

I stopped at ShirleyKnots "What the actual fuck?"

Summed it up perfectly.

Tortington · 13/03/2011 12:29

i boil the kettle to wash my fanny.

fifi25 · 13/03/2011 12:40

lmaoGrin

pawsnclaws · 13/03/2011 12:59

You lot are all disgusting slatterns. Washing machine? I only wear my undies once, then straight in the bin Grin.

Butterbur · 13/03/2011 13:05

"...laziness to wash your smalls in the washing machine"

Why? Because we should all spend as much time doing pointless make-work as as possible? Otherwise we might get all uppitty, and start making trouble?

HouseOfBamboo · 13/03/2011 13:08

The BIN Shock - gosh you minger. I have a separate INCINERATOR for each member of the family's pants.

Tortington · 13/03/2011 13:08

good point, its a distraction for the working classes, to keep out idle hands busy instead of concentrating on the important issues and bringing the govt down

fifi25 · 13/03/2011 13:12

washing at thirty leaves a dirty blirty Grin

OliPolly · 13/03/2011 13:16

FFS, most of you are now making this whole thing bigger than it actually is!

My knickers are not massive so its not like it takes me hours to do it! Its no different to wash your bra by hand.

I am weird and I have a strange habit I get that. No need to say horrible stuff about it.

Laziness was a wrong word and I have already admitted that in context I am being unreasonable.

Hiding the thread now I think! Sad

You wash your bra by hand? i know it says you are meant to hand wash but no one actually reads the tag do they?

Laundry day???? Everyday is laundry day in my house.

Everything goes in with the wash, socks, pants, knickers, bra, vests etc etc

TimeToStartACHEEKYDiet · 13/03/2011 13:19

Custardo
I hover over the cooker whilst a pan of water is boiling. Wink

Butterbur · 13/03/2011 13:20

Any way it's weird to be spending loads of time fingering your smalls, lovingly rubbing your gussets etc. Like anything that touches your fanjo needs special treatment.

Just bung them in the machine, and have done.

i bet your DH doesn't handwash his smalls either.

HouseOfBamboo · 13/03/2011 13:20

OliPolly - don't be sad, I think people are just being SILLY for the sake of it now, nothing to do with your original post. My last post certainly wasn't.

A lot of the more recent posters won't have read the whole thread so won't have seen your updated comments.

pawsnclaws · 13/03/2011 13:20

An incinerator? Steaming? But aren't you concerned about the potential for airborne particles of fannyrot to enter the atmosphere and pollute our lungs?

OP most people are just laughing at their own jokes, not at you. You're not weird at all. Don't take it too seriously!

fifi25 · 13/03/2011 13:21

oli - i wasnt taking the piss. I wash all my stuff at 30 and was referring to my previous post Grin

HouseOfBamboo · 13/03/2011 13:26

eek at airborne particles of fannyrot. I'm sure there's a mask you could get for that. (But you'd have to incinerate it after wearing of course Hmm )

ViolaTricolor · 13/03/2011 13:29

OliPolly I did think Confused when I saw the thread title, but having read all your updates I don't think it's weird at all in the light of your background. Millions of people all over the world do all their washing by hand and are not eaten alive by yeast. I can quite see why saving up festering knickers could be seen as unpleasant . Idea of cleanliness and dirtiness are very deeply culturally ingrained. I'm half tempted to try it.

BooBearBoo · 13/03/2011 13:30

Wasn't there a thread recently which mentioned "perineal fallout" and "vulval debris"... ??? Hmm

pawsnclaws · 13/03/2011 13:31

Timetostart do you get someone to lower you down over the hob from the ceiling, like that scene in Mission Impossible? I hope you save energy by boiling your veg as well as steaming your vag at the same time.

My kitchen can be seen from the street. I'm interested in your method but don't want to frighten my neighbours.

fifi25 · 13/03/2011 13:37

I seen the steam mop thread active and had to see if Custardo was on getting tips on how to wash her flange Grin

Sidge · 13/03/2011 13:38

Olipolly don't hide the thread, this has just taken the turn that many do on AIBU where everyone gets all daft and starts mucking about Grin

Many threads end up bearing no resemblance at all to the original OP!
