To not pluck my chin hair?

mistressploppy · 11/03/2011 19:42

I only have one, and I usually pluck it out as soon as it becomes visible, but it's escaped my notice for a while and now it's over 1cm long

I'm curious as to how long it'll get. Should I start a book?

omg I couldn't not pluck

As it is I finger my chin many many times during the day, an unplucked one would drive me kerrrazee

Boozilla · 11/03/2011 19:44

I think it's fine until you realise that people are actually staring at your chin when you talk, then it's time to get busy with the tweezers.

I have a couple of the little fuckers that seem to spring out overnight!

mistressploppy · 11/03/2011 19:47

It lies quite flat, so you can't see it unless you're really close

I keep them at bay daily with a bic razor but when I had PND with dd3 one of them grew to over half an inch and had curled upwards and was heading towards my cheek without me knowing. I was horrified when I finally looked in a mirror and saw it Shock

GORGEOUSX · 11/03/2011 19:57

YABU. Hmm

EveryonesJealousOfGingers · 11/03/2011 20:00

YANBU provided that you update this thread on a weekly basis to keep us abreast of progress - I have one myself and have to agree with BoysAreLikeDogs - it would drive me insane!

While I was pg I discovered a random hair on my belly which had, unnoticed by me, reached a length of about 1.5" - bizarre!

PigValentine · 11/03/2011 20:03

YABU.

Without realising it, you will soon start twiddling it absentmindedly in conversations with people. Perhaps stroking it thoughtfully when pondering. Pluck it immediately. Grin

TheProvincialLady · 11/03/2011 20:06

Will you consider removing it when the wart appears?

SeeJaneKick · 11/03/2011 20:10

Hocus...a bic! Shock

I have one...but it is an almighty one. It's visible if I dont pluck and grows much longer than a cm!

[boastful]

SeeJaneKick · 11/03/2011 20:10

Oh and YABU! Pluck it! Pluck it!

OiVaVoi · 11/03/2011 20:11

i am Envy of your long hair. plucking my chin hair is one of life's greatest pleasures, IMHO.

medicalmayhem · 11/03/2011 20:21

you pluck one and then 3 more turn up and why do they end up being black and stubbly?? since turning 38 i have loads of the bloody things!

FabbyChic · 11/03/2011 20:29

Omg do you get them at a certain age, I don't have any.

I'd shave it everyday so it couldn't grow at all.

clairefromsteps · 11/03/2011 20:34

How can you not pluck it - it would be driving me CRAZY! I've got one at the moment that's just broken through the skin, but is still too short to pluck and it's driving me up the wall.

susall · 11/03/2011 20:35

Pluck it!!! I have some dark ones on my chin and they bug me until I find the tweezers, it was worse when I had my coil in and they caused spots all along my jaw line. I also have a fine white hair which grows on my cheek, can get to about an inch, and I only spot it when the light catches it.

...I have one lone-ranger chin hair, I pluck it when I can feel it's at a decent length...I count myself luck actually my mum and sister are cultivating quite a chin full...I suspect I will suffer from a tashe for my sins Grin...Never ever shave!!..everyone knows!!

ZuzuBailey · 11/03/2011 20:38

And why do they seem to grow only on one side? I could grow a one-sided beard easily. The 'tache grows on both sides though Sad

stoatsrevenge · 11/03/2011 20:39

This is one of the things they don't tell you about getting older. It happens.

Not helped by a beautician friend who said that she could always tell those that plucked just by looking at them (OMG!). Shock Kept my balaclava on whenever I met her after that.

ShavingGodfreysPrivates · 11/03/2011 20:41

It's a strange but intereting scientific experiment so YANBU to test it's maximum growth.

I reckon it will peak at 2cm :)

Mumcentreplus · 11/03/2011 20:43

you just have to pluck it properly...make sure the skin is warm...and use a decent tweezer (recommend the 99p number from Tesco) wet a cotton wool ball with warm water and hold it over plucking area..the pores will open and the hair will come out easier...the mistake people make is to pull the hair and it breaks which can cause in-growing hairs, dodgy spots and bruising

And this, right here, is the reason I love mumsnet so much.

purpleknittingmum · 11/03/2011 20:45

I get 3 whiskers on my chin!! Over the years I have got rather excellent at plucking them at shorter and shorter lengths, and sometimes when they are just growing in, they can be squeezed out!!

YouTry · 11/03/2011 20:55

I've got three on my neck!! Am I a freak??

GORGEOUSX · 11/03/2011 20:55

To the ladies who want to know what else is in store for them, I give you......
