to be getting increasingly wound up by the labour intensive jumps we're having to jump through to reassess our student loan?

DH left his job a couple of years ago to do a PGCE and is now teaching. We applied for and got a student loan, including all the means-tested stuff, in particular the Adult Dependents Grant of £4k as it was just me earning from a part-time job.

Fast forward to now, and I'm having to provide so much paperwork to verify my income/ our outgoings. I've so far sent off a copy of every policy document, council tax notification, mortgage statement plus sent copies of my payslips for that period. Essentials such as fuel bills don't count apparently. Hmm

Now it wants a copy of child tax credit award, copies of a self-assessment form as we rented our house out when we moved and copies of every bank statement from Sept-Aug highlighting all the things I've already sent proof of. Some things were paid from different accounts so there are reams and reams of paper.

I really want to ring up and remind them that they haven't given us the money and that it's only a loan that DH will be starting to pay it back next month. Anyone would think we're trying to swindle them out of a free £4k. Angry

whilst i too hate paperwork i don't think you're going to get much sympathy on here in the current climate - ie tuition fees rising to 9k. 4k is peanuts compared to what will be debts of over 50k for many students. be thankful he went when he did

£4k is just the Adult Dependents Grant. We borrowed over £20 in total for a year's course! But I'm not complaining about having borrowed the money, it's treating us like we're some kind of criminals and are claiming for stuff we're not entitled to, that I'm objecting to.

BTDT the years after are easier unless you change your circumstances - dp just got a pay rise so we are 'very' much looking forward to this year!
