I just can't bring myself to buy a phone from them as it rhymes with lochia, and conjures up words like episiotomy and meconium in my head.

Is this rational. Am I the only one:)?

Yes, I've been using Nokia phones for years.

Problem now though is that I fear there may be a lack of on going support for the Symbian OS used by many of their phones now that they are partnering with Microsoft.

I have a Nokia and those things never cross my mind tbh

Nokias are good and easy to use. I've had three now and I wouldn't have any other make.
