Many, many threads on here about inconsiderate cinema behaviour, but I'm sure most of us just clench up and do nothing about it for fear of reprisals. It's pretty obvious who the dobber is, when you get up and walk back in and a staff member comes in a few moments later to investigate.

Howabout a prominent text number sign in each theatre that you could text with brief details, then staff could come in and the perpetrator would be none the wiser?

for example:

"UP, Screen 17, old grumpy man sitting in middle-leftwith copious balloons obscuring the screen".

"The Social Network, screen 3, on the left near the front, teenagers constantly updateing FB statuses on iphone, causing distracting mobile phone glows."

"Brokeback Mountain, screen 8, unsuitable behaviour near the rear passage."

Who should I suggest this genius plan to and will it make me any money??

Go on Dragons Den with it!

OMG! You are a genius, if only it would actually happen, Cinema rudeness is one of my pet peeves.

littlepigshavebigears · 08/03/2011 15:35

but then you would have to use your mobile to send the text, and somebody would complain about you, and so on and so forth until the film becomes a forgotten irrelevance and the cinema is full of red-faced Tunbridgers furiously stabbing and squinting at their mobiles in the half-light

LOL @ "unsuitable behaviour near the rear passage" :o I actually know someone whose child was concieved in the cinema. It's not me, the last time I went to the cinema I was PG already and before then, hadn't been to see a film in about 2 years :)

littlepigs, you beat me to it! Apart from that, I think OP's suggestion is great. Maybe it just needs tweaking a bit.

Smerch · 08/03/2011 16:03

It could well work, they have a similar thing at some big sports matches so people can report excessive swearing/racially abusive language/people standing and obscuring the niews of others etc.

ChaosTrulyReigns · 08/03/2011 16:06

gah, but I thought I was all brand new blue sky thinking.
