DS is just over 4 months (bf)and all around me people are saying I should give him food now I weaned my DD at 5 1/2 months and will probably wean DS at around 5 months but WHAT IS THE HURRY??

Absolutely no rush at all, I agree with you. I think some people just can't wait to get onto the next "stage" and others see it as some sort of competition i.e. if their DS/DD is being weaned then they are obviously far more advanced than your DC iyswim.

get your revenge later by potty training early. Much more satisfying when your dc is going to the toilet at toddler group under the age of 2.
