to wonder why Jodie Foster who I respect would direct a movie with Mel Gibson in it?

Why would she even work with him? He's become apparently so monstrous and his views are evidently repulsive. Why would she risk her good reputation by making a film with him? I don't get it.

I read that they're holding the release of this film back because of his various tabloid and personal horrors.

I don't think you are being unreasonable .

However ,unless you know both of them personally ,and very well -all you have to go on, is the media .

The media lies and manipulates (as we all know ) .

I don't like Mel Gibson ...I like Jodie Foster :) but ...I have only got these opinions from TV and newspapers .

We really have no idea what goes on behind the scenes do we ?

A LOT of personalties/actors owe their public persona to an excellent PA/agent .

But ,I agree that I suspect he is a massive jerk (based on my newspaper of course )

They made Maverick together, and by all accounts got on very well.

i think he's acted well in some films, year of living dangerously for example. And a talented director. But he is on tape with some wild and obnoxious opinions, that's not conjecture.
But fair enough, I'd forgotten he'd made Maverick with her.
It's just that she is usually so careful, discreet and appears to have good judgement. Working with someone so like him seems not in keeping with how she usually works. I'm just curious really.
