dd2 is turning 2 on wednesday, so thinking of putting some candles on a pancake :D having a proper cake aswell though

bonkers20 · 06/03/2011 14:29

I will be having lemon and sugar, DH and DSs will raid the cake decorations and make all manner of mess.

Sigh...last year I promised myself a new non-stick pan. Still haven't replaced it. I wonder whether they hoik the prices up in anticipation.

Better get my lemon tomorrow. I get so annoyed when you go on Shrove Tuesday, they have no lemons and the shop assistant tells you vacantly that "there's been a rush on". Oh REALLY?!

Like no pumpkins on Halloween or Hot X buns on Good Friday. I am slowly turning into one of those smug people who prepares for such events, but it goes against my nature.

bonkers20 · 06/03/2011 14:30

Ooooh, sorry for the bad bold formatting! Do forgive me!

whats it to you?>

LemonDifficult · 06/03/2011 14:34

Definitely.

I love ricotta, spinach and pinenuts mix or salmon pate.

But lemon and sugar best of all.

salmon pate on pancakes sounds almost as nice as the way i do them, which is to add smoked mackerel to them

MillsAndDoom · 06/03/2011 14:36

Oooh yes lemon and sugar

BrandyAlexander · 06/03/2011 14:42

Oh yes, it's one of the big traditions in our house and I do a buffet with a choice of chicken, meat and vegetarian fillings for the savoury pancakes and then the sweet ones have lemon and sugar, banana and chocolate and fruit with syrup. Am off to the shops this afternoon to get everything!

withagoat · 06/03/2011 14:43

oh yes
we invite the neighbours

i once did them with edible flowers in them

bluebump · 06/03/2011 14:44

I do savory - marmite and grated cheese, it's delicious. I have got some spinach and ricotta in though too for this year.

withagoat · 06/03/2011 14:45

Yes and ogf course dh and i have a quiet interlude later with candles and caviar and sour cream pancakes

a deux

Fleecy · 06/03/2011 14:46

We're having ours instead of a roast today. A choice of golden syrup and cream, sugar and lemon juice or nutella and banana here.

withagoat · 06/03/2011 14:47

but pancakes with roast beef in them are very nice too

with a horseradish coulis

BrandyAlexander · 06/03/2011 14:47

marmite and grated cheese! Shock Yuck, yuck, yuck from me but what's your address, I might send DH round to your house!!! Grin

iscream · 06/03/2011 14:58

Yes, but at a local church.

MooMooFarm · 06/03/2011 14:58

Yes definitely, I love them so any excuse Grin

My favourite recipe is pancake cannelloni - you just roll up bolognese in pancakes, line up in a baking tray, cover with cheese or cheesey sauce and bake - yum.

And the only way to eat sweet pancakes is with lemon and sugar... mmmmmmmmm

withagoat · 06/03/2011 15:28

Lime with a White choc ganache works too

roisin · 06/03/2011 15:31

No, we're having them tonight, because dh is away for a few days this week.

stoppinchingthedummy · 06/03/2011 15:33

Ooh yes we will be having them first as savoury with cheese and gravy then for pudding with ice cream and chocolate sauce :D

bigTillyMint · 06/03/2011 15:33

Yes, savoury - ham and cheese or prawn and every variety of sweet.

DC's are inviting friends for teaSmile

midnightservant · 06/03/2011 22:47

MooMoo that's my plan for Tues :)

ohboob · 06/03/2011 22:52

Yes and I've learnt that if you use self raising flour rather than plain they are incredibly fluffy and delicious.

SeaStrand · 06/03/2011 22:52

We had a huge amount of pancakes after dinner today cos I'll be away on Tuesday..lemon and sugar or golden syrup....made loads extra can I freeze and reheat do you think?
