People shopping on a Sunday.

Another thread about kids in shops after 8pm got me thinking about this.

When I am out and about on a Sunday [or Bank hols] I am amazed at the amount of people taking their kids shopping on a Sunday.

I work every bank hol and when its a beautiful day there they are dragging their kids around the shops.

Why don't people [some] take their kids to the beach or moors or park anymore.

When I was young every Sunday my dad used to take my bro and I either swimming or fishing or the moors/beach for a few hours on a Sunday morn. My mum stayed home to cook the roast and then we palyed games in the garden or board games indoors after the meal.

This was a family day spent with the family.

So the question is What do you do on a Sunday?

Please don't say they shop on a Sunday because they work all week because shops are open late and on Saturdays.

Is it allowed to refer to the OP's opinions on another thread?

(Don't want to put my foot in it)

BaroqueAroundTheClock · 06/03/2011 12:00

well I'm going to do church twice today with my kids (they had Sunday school this morning and made and ate pancakes Grin), AND I'm going to go (food) shopping, AND hopefully we'll pop to the park if the rain continues to stay off AND I may do housework as well

(well that's the plan - however right now it looks like I may just kips on the sofa between services as I'm shattered Grin)

BaroqueAroundTheClock · 06/03/2011 12:05

actually scrap most of that - just checked the bank balance - grocery shopping will have to wait until tomorrow - eek

Grin
noddyholder · 06/03/2011 12:11

Blimey zukie I am shocked by that . Why did you have to do all that?

itisnotgoingwelltoday · 06/03/2011 12:12

Zukie - that's terrible

itisnotgoingwelltoday · 06/03/2011 12:15

The OP must be going for a very very long swim

Zukie - my mother had a real go at me the other day for being a single parent - she's ashamed Confused

She criticises me all the time and I've decided she can cool in the sweat she het in (as my granny used to say) and I'll speak to her when I'm good and ready.

For some reason this thread has really really offended me - I just don't get why some OP who sits on a till telling her bosses that she can't have more responsibilities she has enough with what she does at home and anyway she has to take the pork chops out of the freezer because who else would do it (from another thread) well, why does she think she can judge me and my life with my more than one child and my single parentdom?

"mrsgetonwithit Sun 30-Jan-11 17:50:21

Quite frankly I am not bothered about what other women want or men.

I am interested in my family, my life and the harmony of it all.

I work 16 hours a week on a till and that is enough for me.

When I was asked to do a higher graded job I said

''oh no, I don't do responsibility in the workplace, I have responsibilities at home''

Who would take the pork chops out of the freezer if I did'nt?

If men want the high powered jobs let them have it, I would rather finish my four hour shift on the till and pick up my son and go swimming."

Was on a thread about women who don't work

(Apologies if I've committed a MN cardinal sin by referring to another thread)

Strangely zukie my mother does not feel the same shame with regards to my brother who is currently on wife no 3 Confused

I just don't get how someone with one child, whose husband took a pay cut to do a less pressured job (and presumably be around more - yes another thread) can sit and judge me when I'm working my bollocks off with more than three kids, running round like a loon trying to make sure they all get a fair share of me, work full time in a pressured environment and hey guess what?? I still fecking get to take the pork chops out of the freezer.

GRRRRRRR

But sure I should be doing a roast dinner every sunday and playing happy families

ChaoticAngelofAnarchy · 06/03/2011 13:05

YABU and very judgemental Hmm

Btw OP do you realise if everyone insisted on having your version of the perfect Sunday you wouldn't be able to go swimming. All the leisure centres/swimming pools would be shut because there would be no one to staff them.

People do what's best for them and their families and it's no business of yours.

FWIW I rarely go shopping on a Sunday but when I do I often leave the dc home alone with the dog to guard them by licking burglars to death Wink

goodbyemrschips · 06/03/2011 13:05

I cannot believe you are all still griping about something you have no interest in, maybe OP is right....go and get a life.

itisnotgoingwelltoday · 06/03/2011 13:09

Goodbyemrschips - And you have the right to order me what to do because?? Who the fuck do you think you are?

Who ever said I had no interest? I am interested because the OP is making massive judgements about me and I would love the chance to tell her but she has disappeared and hasn't got the balls to come back because she doesn't like what she's hearing and wouldn't engage in debate properly when she was here anyway.

itisnotgoingwelltoday · 06/03/2011 13:11

And FWIW I grew up in a part of the UK where you couldn't go to the park on a Sunday because the roundabouts and swings were chained up.

By order of the local council because you weren't allowed to have FUN on a Sunday.

goodbyemrschips · 06/03/2011 13:12

oooooooooo touched a nerve there did'nt I?

You don't agree with mrs ...she don't agree with you.

end of story.

What else can she say except go around in circles which she did for 40 odd posts then got bored and went swimming while you lot still sat there.....lol

itisnotgoingwelltoday · 06/03/2011 13:15

Goodbyemrschips - are you new as well?

It is completely unfair to make the sort of judgements the OP made. And to imply, as she did, that I am an unfit mother because I have more than three children is completely and utterly unacceptable.

She knows nothing about me, nothing about my life and it is grossly offensive for her to have said what she did.

goodbyemrschips · 06/03/2011 13:20

not new been here ages.

but everybody makes assumptions on here that is what makes it go around.

I missed where she said you are unfit........just if you cant handle 3 kids dont have three kids.

point me in the right direction if i mis read...or just missed it.
