It takes SIX hours, from what I hear. Yes its only £150 or whatever but SIX hours on a coach???

DP's family just went and are all happy about these conditions (I doubt they still will be six hours later) and are selling it to me as a great holiday and we should all go next year.

Bear in mind I got to Paris for £25 on the Eurostar last year. And that only takes 2 hours. AND the Kings Cross departure lounge is looking great now!

Am I a snob Blush

It takes us 6hrs to get from Harwich to Holland on the ferry.

It takes my elderly parents 8 hours and 1 train change to get to me.

There will be toilet stops/luxury coaches.

My dd went with her school to Paris last year, they had about 3 hrs travelling to Dover, the crossing and then further travelling time on the other side.

It's what you can afford.

If it's not for you don't do it.

How did you managed to get Eurostar for £25?

Mammie81 · 04/03/2011 14:16

I found a ticket on my work system (which I cant book because its our work account) that they werent offering online. I called and gave them the train times, and number and they gave me it. I was really Hmm about that actually because its happened more than once, which makes me think they often hide fares.

Even with a £69 return though, its got to be worth it not to sit on a coach for six hours!

6 hours is nothing.

I prefer to fly but each to their own.

sofaqueenie · 04/03/2011 14:56

That's nothing - it takes 23 hours on the coach to Spain!

...and I was made to go!

BuzzLiteBeer · 04/03/2011 15:00

its an option for people who want it. Whats it to you and why would you feel the need to call them mugs? Hmm

nickelbabe · 04/03/2011 15:00

I've been to Disneyland Paris on a coach.
We did it overnight, i recall.

but we didn't have any children with us.

and it was fine.

Merrylegs · 04/03/2011 15:02

Have you ever tried to book tickets to Disneyland Paris on Eurostar for a family? Will not cost you £25.

It takes me 7 hours on a coach to visit my mum. I'd go by train if I could but as it would cost me probably over £50 more to do that and I don't have much money I stick to the coach. Fortunately I don't have kids, and sleep a lot of the journey, but my mum used to regularly do the same journey with 2 small children and managed. Last year I was on the coach for 7 hours behind a mum and approximately 4 year old boy. She had brought nothing to occupy him and spent the journey either ignoring him or telling him to be quiet. Poor child.
