I'm on twitter if anyone's interested, i follow llareggub, BIBI and mmeLindt, you can find me by looking for a pic of a woman with rendeer antlers on. Hmm

MmeLindt · 04/03/2011 21:02

exoticfruits
what was your question?

One thing to remember is that most people will be following upwards of several hundred folk so if you ask a question at 10am, by 1pm it will be so far down their timelines that they just won't see it. I do scroll back down my timeline, but not three hours worth.

Don't be afraid to post a question or link to an interesting article a second time later on in the day for those who missed it.

BecauseImWorthIt · 04/03/2011 21:03

The more people you follow, the quicker your timeline moves, so it is very easy to miss things.

Don't be afraid, as Mme says, of re-posting your question.

If you don't get a reply, you're not being ignored - it's just that people haven't seen it.

Catnao · 04/03/2011 21:08

I still don't get it - leaving you all to it as I am too thick! if you want to folow me, i think I might be cathy77 - but not sure...

OP posts:
BecauseImWorthIt · 04/03/2011 21:13

If you're not going to post on Twitter then you will never get it! Honestly.

I've found you (you are cathy77!) - you're only following 3 people, so you're really not going to get the hang of it.

Jump in, follow lots of people, and that will give you a better idea.

MmeLindt · 04/03/2011 21:13

Catnao
you have to follow some people, otherwise it doesn't work. Am following you now.

BecauseImWorthIt · 04/03/2011 21:13

By the way, I'm following you so you have 3 followers now Grin

MmeLindt · 04/03/2011 21:15

And I have #ff you, so you should soon have a few more.

:o

BecauseImWorthIt · 04/03/2011 21:17

You've got loads of tweets now!

freelancegirl · 04/03/2011 21:17

musksticks, NetworkGuy thanks for the mentions (see - I am getting all Twitter-like on you now. Always thank people for a mention or RT). I would consider giving you my twitter name but me being on MN hasn't yet crossed over into my real world yet (am 9 weeks pg and most of my friends don't know yet let alone my work colleagues) so I am not yet ready to cross over. Not that you would say Hey, I know you from MN! but mainly because on twitter I am my real self and not a nickname I am not sure whether I can post anonymously on here (TMI questions like what happens to your vagina after childbirth :) ) and then be the real me in the real world... At one point I probably will though!

hopefully you sound like someone I would like to follow, but I probably won't just yet (see the above).

I have about 1200 twitter followers and about 2200 facebook close and personal friends...It really is part of my work though. And yes I do spend way too much time on both. And now way too much time on MN :)

Oh another tip for RT'ing on twitter. When you can it is better to cut and paste a comment with RT @whoeveryoureRTing included first rather than pressing the retweet button. On the new twitter I am pretty sure there is no way to tell who has RT'd you except the last person if you use the retweet button, so people might not be able to thank you/follow you in return.

essenceofSES · 04/03/2011 21:18

Catnao - I've just followed you too, so your next challenge is your first tweet!

BecauseImWorthIt · 04/03/2011 21:20

freelancegirl - that's the reason I have a RL twitter a/c as well as a MN a/c - I realised that all the stuff I was tweeting to my MN friends wasn't exactly doing much for my professional image!

MmeLindt · 04/03/2011 21:22

freelancegirl
I set up my Twitter under my MN name and keep it separate from RL, or pretty much. I prefer it like that.

Congrats on your pregnancy. Exciting times. Are you finding it difficult to keep it secret?

freelancegirl · 04/03/2011 22:03

BecauseImWorthIt MmeLindt Thanks! Yes maybe I should set up another account. I will wait until after the scan etc as it is still early days. Yes am finding it hard in different ways. Been posting on various threads about it! Feeling very much in a transitional period from a life I really love to a rather scary unknown. But yes, keeping it a secret does make it weird as it's difficult to move on and start to embrace it. Soon though!

Catnao · 04/03/2011 22:20

Oh my gosh! Am going to log into twitter now! thanks for following me to help! I may make a tweet!!

OP posts:
Catnao · 04/03/2011 22:22

And I have! Just a silly one! What happens now??

OP posts:
Catnao · 04/03/2011 22:31

No good kids - I know you tried, but I don't get it still! I made a tweet - I see I have 21 helpful followers...can't understand it still!

OP posts:
MmeLindt · 04/03/2011 22:36

You have to answer your tweets. Do you see the replies?

Catnao · 04/03/2011 22:38

No! I don't see anything except what I wrote and a page of whoever I look at viz first post on this thread explaining!

TheNewStig · 04/03/2011 23:08

seems like it might be time to give this a go again. deleted my old account.

BecauseImWorthIt · 04/03/2011 23:24
