the model agency C4

I watched the programme and was shocked at the superficiality and vacuous nature of it all. People in model agencies telling already underweight models to loose more weight so that they look positivly skeletal Shock, just so that they can fit into the child size clothing samples provided by the designers Angry

The attitudes of the model scouts are just astounding, if your not a model you are nothing said one, wtf!!!! Just shows how far from reality they really are. As for the designers, what the hell do men know about a womans figure, they only design clothes for girl boys (boy shapes). Who do they think buy the clothes then!

Editorial and catwalk are where the boys are required - and indeed are being used. Catalogue etc tend to require sizes 10 - 14 depending on the clothing company or product that is being modelled.

thought it was a bit dull this week tbh

sure the model at the end was a man

pigletmania · 02/03/2011 23:10

This was the conventional catwalk type agency, premier models which supply models for the high end designers.

I have not watched this week, i have it on catch up, last weeks contribution was shocking.

Strange, i thought they were discussing their catalogue/underwear models which can be anything up to a 14 too.

pigletmania · 02/03/2011 23:14

No last week it was the catwalk, I understood that they were discussing a model that needed to loose weight but she already looked underweight.

A model agency is 'superficial' and 'vacuous' - and you're shocked?

sharbie · 02/03/2011 23:16

they called a few people fat (doing a few gestures)this week but one model was told off for having too skinny legs

hardhatdonned · 02/03/2011 23:16

because she was a catalogue model and needs to have some curves to get work.

It's all self serving.

pigletmania · 02/03/2011 23:17

No I am always shocked about it all Staranise, in fact I am always in a permanent shocked state Grin

They were all painful. I cannot believe I spent an hour of life that will never be regained watching those ghastly people spouting rubbish for an hour.

[My excuse is that the cat was on my lap and I was therefore unable to Reach The Remote Control and Turn The Rubbish Off.]

sharbie · 02/03/2011 23:25

ooooo same here staranise all my cats fault

pigletmania · 02/03/2011 23:59

I thought that the catalouge model looked much prettier than the conventional catwalk models, she was skinny, so what size do they expect a catwalk model to be, skeletal Shock

worraliberty · 03/03/2011 00:03

It's the way it's always been with catwalk models. Most of the clothes they model, would probably see someone sectioned for leaving their home in them anyway.

hardhatdonned · 03/03/2011 00:03

catwalk models are now required to have straight up and down masculine figures - which is why there has been a couple of men in the womens shows, they're the only people who will fit the clothes the designers make.

doley · 03/03/2011 00:03

What agency was it ?

I am in the US ,but was a model in London for 16 years :)

Curious ...

darksideofthemooncup · 03/03/2011 00:07

They really haven't done themselves any favours. I haven't watched tonights episode yet but I thought last weeks episode was an eyeopener. I cannot believe Annie gets away with bawling her eyes out at any given opportunity and felt it was more about seeing her commission slipping away rather than any real sympathy with the 16 year old girl that they had sent off to New York.

laosvher · 03/03/2011 00:07

Premier iirc
Or it could have been Elite, but I think that was just mentioned
