to think while Kerry Whatserface is bleeding all over the press about HER problems and HER oh-so-difficult life she could think about addressing her eldest daughter's burgeoning weight issues?

Have just seen a pic of Molly aged 9 and feel really sad for her. Why aren't either of her parents doing anything about it? I know nothing about her father btw, assume he's some vacuous media tart as well, a "singer" or somesuch

but I was a fat child/teen and it was NO fun at all. And preventable in most cases. It seems odd to me that somebody who spends so much energy and time "working on" her self-image and her appearance wouldn't bother to do at least a little of the same for her daughter.

I hate threads that focus on children's weight. Think that they are unnecessary. we all know KK is never going to be mum of the year.

TheBolter · 02/03/2011 20:55

I kind of agree (runs away)

TheCrackFox · 02/03/2011 20:56

YANBU

I do think that she has spent so long prattling on about her problems she seems to have missed the fact that her children have it far worse.

But...... TBF at least she is there for her DCs unlike that gobshite Brian who emigrated to Australia and barely sees his children whilst simultaneously complaining about what a crap mother Kerry is.

TheBolter · 02/03/2011 20:56

(but I only agree if her weight is down to lazy parenting and lack of care)

stiflersmom · 02/03/2011 20:57

most MN threads are unnecessary Hmm

I think it's pretty crap for parents who are clearly pretty wealthy and image-obsessed to fail their dd in such a way, that's all. Having been a fat kid and endured the bullying.Sad

Bamboostalks - I think KK was once mum of the year? Oh the irony! Grin

HecateQueenOfWitches · 02/03/2011 20:58

Yes. I agree.

I was a fat child and it is horrible.

It ruined my childhood and set me up for a lifetime of problems.

It is a cruel thing to do to a child.

While, rarely, being fat is a medical issue, in most cases it is diet and lack of exercise.

When you allow your child to be fat, you are failing them. And I tell you this, it is BLOODY hard for a fat child to become a slim adult. You have fucked up ideas about food, your confidence is shot and food has become a massive emotional thing.

I hate seeing fat children, because I know what the poor little sods are going to face in life.

I also hate the defensive parents who focus on criticism of them rather than seeing what they are doing to the child.

Ooopsadaisy · 02/03/2011 20:58

Why are we seeing pictures of this child?

Isn't it bad enough for her that she has this woman as her mother?

How do you know someone isn't doing something about the child's weight?

Just because her image is bought/sold by paps doesn't give us a right to start on her weight.

Paps should leave her alone.

Her parents should take more care that she is protected from this sort of exposure.

I feel we shouldn't be discussing her.

No offence to the OP - I'm sure your concern is genuine.

RoundOrangeHead · 02/03/2011 20:59

I have no idea what is causing her daughter's weight problem, her other children all appear to be normal weight so maybe it's not down to diet

I say leave her alone, she's a kid

ongakgak · 02/03/2011 20:59

link ?

saffy85 · 02/03/2011 21:00

She is pretty chubby bless her, but I think it's a bit out of order for strangers to draw attention to her weight. Her weight is something only her mother can help her deal with, not us. Hope the girl in question doesn't google her mum and find this thread or others discussing her weight as I can't imagine it would help her self esteem at all Sad

stiflersmom · 02/03/2011 21:01

I do kind of agree with that point, she shouldn't be in the public eye at all

but she is, and I saw the pic and thuoght how bloody unfair and slovenly it is of the parents not to do something about it

You know the most disturbing thing IMHO is that on that documentary that was on a while ago, it was obvious that poor old KK had so many issues of her own she really wasn't apparently sensitive at all to her kids. Poor M's weight was the least of it.

It was a channel 4 one I think and it was really sad and shocking.

But KK was by all acccounts neglected and mistreated herself and she's doing her best.
The media exploit her, she exploits them, to make £ to support her kids, we read it and write on threads about it. It's all fucked up - none of it will solve her problems and meanwhile the poor kids are like entertainment.

At least she's doing as well for them financially as she possibly could by all accounts.

Second kittycat.

She's doing her best.

stiflersmom · 02/03/2011 21:09

I bet you a thousand punds she isn't addressing it

it isn't very difficult to get a child's weight down if you are really interested in doing it.

It's a bloody sight harder to do it yourself when you are an adult with a whole mess of bullying, unhealthy eating and low self-esteem behind you.

As I said I don't know much about the father but he is just as much to blame for the state of his own kid, of course

but I see an awful lot of her bleating about her life, and going on intensive exercise kicks and getting her bloody hair done and generally obsessing about her appearance. Why wouldn't she take an interest in her dd's health and appearance?

I'm not just being mean. I genuinely think it's sad and a bit of a disgrace. Someone who knows her should have a word.

She famously ate beef curries every day which led to her gaining lots of weight. Then she shed the weight, presumably by exercising and eating more healthily. She must therefore have a basic understanding of health and nutrition. Why then does she not use the same practices on her daughter?

Dolanette · 02/03/2011 21:12

I just reported a disgusting FB page on this topic, poor child :(

GypsyMoth · 02/03/2011 21:12

Didn't Brian McFadden try and get custody, using his daughters weight as an example of why Kerry shouldn't be the resident parent?

He was saying he feeds her healthy stuff and Kerry let's her have what she likes

He and his family have tried
