Is 8.30 an unreasonable school night bedtime for a 10 year old? He thinks so!

That's because he's 10! Is certainly not unreasonable on a school night.

squeakytoy · 01/03/2011 21:21

I would say it is a bit early. I would say 9.30 was more reasonable.

mrsgetonwithit · 01/03/2011 21:24

My son is 10 in oct he still goes to bed at 7pm...........tell your son this he might consider himself lucky.

parakeet · 01/03/2011 21:26

Allow him to read for half an hour in bed?

robotlollypopman · 01/03/2011 21:26

I thought this was going to be a smurf fetish thread.

llanfihangellady · 01/03/2011 21:37

tried that - he has gone to bed in tears, filled with a sense of injustice. This has been going on for a few weeks. Don't feel we can back down now in the face of his misery but I hate miserable bedtimes

Is he actually tired when you are sending him to bed?

If not, then allow him to read or do something quietly in his room for an hour.

llanfihangellady · 01/03/2011 21:40

thanks squeaky toy - we have tried that but will try it again and report back

I think is about right - 9.30 is far too late IMO. My 13 yr old stepson goes to bed at 9 on a school night.
