I am expecting twins when dd will be 3.5 and I think we should get dd a gift from the twins when they arrive. At first I was thinking a nice necklace, but now I'm thinking about a Mobigo or Leapster (no idea which) as it will entertain her when I'm busy and she can sit next to me on the sofa while I feed etc.

Is she a bit young for computer games? MIL is horrified, but I think it would be better the dd getting jealous and she played with one at a friend's house and loved it. Very confused.

We bought dd(3) one for Christmas and she loves it. When her brother and his friends are showing off their dsi consoles she loves getting out her version! I would say yanbu if you already know she would like it

my ds got his own dsi when he was 3 (courtesy of dh!)

I think its a brilliant idea!

Dd2 also 3.5yrs uses hers older sisters one. Most games she plays mostly are educational ones, so she learning while playing.

DS(4) got a leapster for christmas and loves it. He thinks its a DS. He is particularly attached to Letters on the Loose

Lovely idea, dd has a present from the babies, sounds great. My dd had one for christmas as I thought she was too young for dsi and would break it, loves it, more learning that just gaming. Impressed with it and dd loves it as I don't have one of the nice phones with peppa pig app on it like all her friends!!

My parents recently bought DS2 (who is 3.5) a Mobigo, which he absolutely loves. He calls it his DS (his big brother has one) and picked it up surprisingly quickly. The games are fun, but educational, and as long as it's not in constant use it's a really good learning aid as well as a toy.

curlymama · 01/03/2011 22:50

The only games on those things seem to be educational, so if you want to get her one, then do. Don't worry about what MIL thinks, firstly it's none of her business what you choose for your own child, and second, she probably doesn't know enough about the things to make an informed judgement anyway.

DD had a Mobigo for Christmas, she likes it. I like it too Blush and she is getting a new game for her birthday shortly, she will be 4.

I am looking forward to her being old enough for a DS though as I quite fancy having a go - we haven't got any other consoles.
