when you are spending all day teaching a class of 9 and 10 year olds

Just wondering whether I'm being an old prude or whether it really is a bit much?

What? Really?

Really!?

Normantebbit · 01/03/2011 13:17

If at work, it is a definite no,no.

If on own time, I couldn't care less (except it's a ridiculous thing to wear)

CuppaTeaJanice · 01/03/2011 13:17

My DP has several Pornstar t-shirts. One has a picture od Ron Jeremy and another has a couple of toilet-door-style people doing a sex act.

He only wears them at work, when he knows he won't be seeing any customers. Definitely not in front of a class of children.

Ooopsadaisy · 01/03/2011 13:19

Inappropriate. I am not a prude at all but I would complain to the school about this.

I'm not often offended but I find this offensive.

YANBU.

Themumsnot · 01/03/2011 13:21

Are you serious? No way would a member of staff at any primary I know get away with that.

nailak · 01/03/2011 13:21

deinitely inappropriate yanbu

snice · 01/03/2011 13:22

well I'm an old prude too in that case-totally inappropriate in a school situation

ilovecrisps · 01/03/2011 13:23

Yes
I did a double take...
There was a picture too but I couldn't really see it I don't think it was people doing a sex act Hmm Shock

TBH I would have been less surprised if it was a reception class they would all probably just have thought star although you can imagine the response in the house of the one who goes home and says 'Mummy what's a pornstar?'

SO I'm glad I'm doing OK on the prudeometer scale Grin although who is Ron Jeremy?

NinkyNonker · 01/03/2011 13:25

People wear t shirts to work?!

Spammead · 01/03/2011 13:25

Don't the teachers have some kind of 'uniform'? Like, no logo teeshirts or jeans etc.

I wouldn't be too thrilled about a teacher wearing any kind of slogan on their shirt tbh, but pornstar is quite foul. It's a bizarre choice - is the teacher really so clueless?

mmsmum · 01/03/2011 13:25

I don't believe you!

mmsmum · 01/03/2011 13:26

oops I don't mean to call you a liar! I mean I don't believe it lol that came out so wrong, sorry!

Themumsnot · 01/03/2011 13:27

I think a teacher at the DC's school who wore that would probably be looking at a disciplinary. Check if s/he is still wearing it at pick up time.

kreecherlivesupstairs · 01/03/2011 13:28

I believe you. DD had one teacher who wore one which said slippy when aroused Shock. Same teacher thought it was acceptable to have rude when nude on her chesticles.
She didn't last long.

Themumsnot · 01/03/2011 13:31

Kreecher Shock
Most schools have dress codes for staff - jeans and tshirts definitely are banned by many schools I know. Does your school have a more laid-back approach in general to teacher dress code OP?

ilovecrisps · 01/03/2011 13:32

I've just spat tea all over the keyboard at the rude when nude one.

It's true mmsmum I'm really trying hard to thnk how I could have misread it

prawnstar Grin

I'm sure there were no fish on the t-shirt

It was a male teacher

OP posts:
ilovecrisps · 01/03/2011 13:32

the school is pretty laid back
but still pornstar is on the wrong side of the line IMHO

kreecherlivesupstairs · 01/03/2011 13:36

School was in Thailand and the teacher in question did dress like a bargirl at the best of times.

MrsWembley · 01/03/2011 13:46

I'm a secondary teacher, slightly different context I know, but when we were training our course leader actually talked to us about appropriate clothes in the classroom in preparation for our placements. She pointed out that many teenage boys would happily ask for help from a young female teacher wearing a low cut top, especially if it meant her bending over next to him... Wink

I'm very surprised that primary teachers don't get the same kind of talk. Or maybe he was away that day? Hmm He won't last long doing things like that. But if he's still wearing it later on today, take him to one side and embarrass the hell out of him!

EleanorJosie · 01/03/2011 13:57

Pornstar is a brand I think. I used to have one of their t-shirts in my 20s. I don't think it's appropriate wear for a teacher though. "FCUK" would be pushing it too, IMO.

SenoritaViva · 01/03/2011 14:01

I saw the title and thought maybe you were being a bit precious. Then I thought it might be on an 11 year old and then I would have been surprised etc. But on a teacher?? Not what I was expecting and not appropriate in my view.

FreudianSlippery · 01/03/2011 14:04

OMG! Totally inappropriate.

Please please PLEASE have a quiet word with him at home time he'll be sooo embarrassed :o and then report back!
