Feeling pee'd off. My boobs have inflated and now look like I have 4 boobs thanks to not having larger bra's. I seem to be in the first stages of menopause and am 37 (38 in 2 weeks). I have 4 dcs and don't want more. BUT AIBU to not want my boobs to swell up and hurt like they did in pregnancy. Seems like the biggest rasperry you can have.." Yes, you will be infertile soon...BUT...you will have the same feelings like when you were pregnant!!

I feel like that too. I'm 38. I wondered if it was the early stages of menopause and it could be...but apparently this can go on for years! So we have the added insult of not being able to shag without fear!

Look to your Mother...when did she go through it? Mine was late with hers andmy periods have neer been regular. I think I'll start taking some Primrose oil either bloody way.

YANBU.

I had sore boobs last year. I didn't realise that was a symptom at the time so it didn't register. But now I'm getting the more common hot flushes etc. Personally, I'll be glad when it's over, I hate having periods.

madhattershouse · 01/03/2011 01:18

You are right..my mum started early..BUT she had fibroids ans ended up with laser treatment. My periods have been 28 days to the hour..until 2 months ago. It's the swollen boobs and mood swings that are the worst! I look like something out of Viz's "fat cows" coz my bras don't fit!!

totem you are so right! The only thing I hat e is reading that this process can take up to 10 years!! Was going to try a mooncup...think it may not be worth it now!

I've been feeling the sore boob thing too but it's just been in the last 3 months right before my period. I had no idea that was a sign or symptom. I have the hot flush thing too but I put that down to my CFS/ME. I'll be 40 this year. Oh No! How long does the booby thing go on for? Shock

Celestialstarlight · 01/03/2011 01:27

oops x post. 10 years? Shock

TotemPole · 01/03/2011 01:30

Unfortunately, it's one of those things that is very personal to you and you don't know exactly what's going to happen.

Though you can use mum & grandma's experience as a guide, the details will be different.

SeeJaneKick · 01/03/2011 01:30

I feel quite chuffed...I will be a stout matron soon! I can freeze people with one look and do Les Dawson type faces when things don't please me.

What about a group where we can talk about these things? By the way it can take months or up to 10 years. Should us pre-menopausal ladies have somewhere to chat?

madhatter, there's a sub board under health for menopause.

sterrryerryoh · 01/03/2011 08:06

Madhatter - I know what you mean. I am also 37, but infertile. I always have the most horrible periods every single month - painful to the point where I often have to stay in bed on the second day. They last around a week, and are always really heavy. I get so irrationally angry that I have to go through them when they've never been "fit for purpose" - so yanbu, but i'm quite looking forward to my menopause :
:)

weegiemum · 01/03/2011 08:10

There's a menopause section under health where you could start a thread for support where some of the people who have been through it also might come on to give advice.

I'm 40 and my menopause is almost complete - hormone levels have dropped right off, no periods for months, hot flushes tailing off. Main problem is after 5 years of me saying "is it hot in here or is it just me?" I'm now permanently freezing cold.

shewasashowgirl · 01/03/2011 10:00

I'm not sure that sore boobs are a sign of menapause are they? I started having terribly sore boobs in my early thirties, they were so bad I had to see a specialist which didn't help!! I am now 44 and at 41 had a naturally conceived baby? Since having my baby the sore boobs have gone? Can't be early menopause in my case?
