If you do, and think that the way in which the reforms are being pushed through is rushed and ill considered. Sign the petition here

I think that you are missing the point swc. This is not about GP whining that they'll get more work. It is about a deterioration in the quality of care to us. It is about institutions competing for contracts based on little more than cost (not on quality) and the probable introduction of yet another level of management (something the NHS definitely doesn't need)

You seem to be arguing that because GPs earn well they should do whatever task is thrust upon them. Whether or not they are capable of doing it well?

Strange. Confused

I wouldn't ask my accountant to treat my pneumonia but each to his own I suppose Hmm

Signed.

mumpalumps · 01/03/2011 08:27

done - only 19 in my constituency - I can not believe people aren't marching in the streets - they have no mandate for these reforms

MummyBerryJuice · 01/03/2011 08:42

I know! David Cameron on billboards : 'I'll cut the deficit not the NHS' Hmm

Yeah, right!

207 in my constituency. Thanks MBJ for bringing this to our attention - and for making some excellent points to posters who think Cameron's plans are a good idea!

ginnybag · 01/03/2011 10:49

Done and facebooked.

26 sigs in my constituency, not that my MP will do anything. He's a lazy example of a 'job for life MP' who can't be challenged because of the current voting system. Less than 40% attendance in parliament and votes even less often!

MummyBerryJuice · 01/03/2011 12:27

Every signature counts. Don't be be complacent. Let's show them how much we appreciate our system n

Geriatricbabymama · 02/03/2011 08:50

Since putting this as my FB status, I can't see how to do it anymore if that makes sense? I was going to ask other people I know to repost it so as many people as possible were aware of it Confused

MummyBerryJuice · 02/03/2011 13:51

I just copy and paste the URL address usually (but that is because I mainly use my iPhone) so I can't help you. Sorry Sad

Geriatricbabymama · 02/03/2011 14:55

I did mine from my iPhone too without cutting and pasting the URL- god knows how! Ah well, not to worry.

MummyBerryJuice · 02/03/2011 15:41

Bumpity bump

SWC I think you miss the point slightly suggesting that GP's should be able to manage this transition. I want MY gp to be just that a GP, if he has to manage procurement as well as managing his/her own practice, I wonder just how much time he will have left being a GP (how many complaints on here about the delays in waiting to see GP's and the amount of time with each patient?).

There is a strong suggestion that this work would be contracted out, creating the PCT type layer of management which we are led to believe will be removed thereby making the whole reorgainasation pointless (yes I do realise that pay and pensiuons provision for the PCT staff will be gone but private companies providing procurment services will want to make a profit (eating into whatever budget the GP's are given).

MummyBerryJuice · 02/03/2011 16:25

Exactly Doris. It's all well and good cutting out the PCT and thereby decreasing the dreaded public sector but contracting a private management company to do the work will happen and it will still cost money (and the taxpayer will still be paying for it).

why are we not seeing more about this in the media? Or am I just missing it all?

Geriatricbabymama · 03/03/2011 22:02

tougholdbird - The guardian have written about it quite a bit in the last few days. Don't know if the Murdoch press have bothered to.

tougholdbird · 03/03/2011 22:08

thanks Geri, will do some online reading. I guess I was thinking also maybe of a panorama special or something.
