When would you rather they went? Or equally, how would you rather they posted things?

GretchenWiener · 28/02/2011 15:16

at night

They're probably spending quite a bit of money to post things, and besides have just as much right to be there as someone buying a second class stamp.

RobF · 28/02/2011 15:18

Ebay is pretty much keeping the post office and royal mail in business nowadays.

GretchenWiener · 28/02/2011 15:19

goes off mumbling angrily

If it wasn't for ebayers, a lot more post offices would be closing. Would you rather you didn't have a post office at all, or had to travel much further to get to one?

YABU

NinkyNonker · 28/02/2011 15:20

I'd have thought that going during the day when most are at work was the most 'considerate' time to be honest, as against Sat mornings etc.

TrillianAstra · 28/02/2011 15:21

What did you want to do? Let us judge if it's more important. The ebayers might have been sending stuff to me.

queenofboak · 28/02/2011 15:21

I really want some carrier pigeons.....

WannabeNigella · 28/02/2011 15:22

I feel your pain as our local Post Office has the slowest assistants in the world too, however YABU.

There is no alternative unless you are posting literally 30+ items a day in which case Royal Mail will collect if it is a business address.

FindingStuffToChuckOut · 28/02/2011 15:24

I agree that Ebayer's have probably been the collective saviour of local PO's! Looking forward to my place in the queue once I start maternity leave and have time to get rid of some tat.

JarethTheGoblinKing · 28/02/2011 15:25

You've better avoid the post office at the beginning of next week then, ebay have just had a free listing weekend :)

JarethTheGoblinKing · 28/02/2011 15:25

You'd, not you've! Hmm

GretchenWiener · 28/02/2011 15:25

and asn aisde as i obv AM being unreasonable
cant post office clerks learn to type with TWO fingers?

OP posts:
nomoreheels · 28/02/2011 15:28

Tis no different than someone holding up the queue with their banking, topping up leccy cards, vehicle registration...

If you have a scale & printer at home though, you can buy postage online, skip the queues & you only have to drop them off in the parcel hatch. A real lifesaver at Christmas...

YANBU about the staff... some (not all) seem to turn even simple tasks into a saga...

plasticlentilweaver · 28/02/2011 15:29

I do have some sympathy for you, as I hate getting stuck in a queue behind them. But, YAstillBU for all the reasons already given.

Get up earlier, and get there before them.
You could wait for them to arrive and then start a long list of spurious slow requests. Then pay with copper coins to string it out.

Hassled · 28/02/2011 15:30

Never go to the PO on a Monday. It's always a bad move.

I would imagine that ebayers hogging the post office is one of the reasons the whole PO institution hasn't crumbled.

NestaFiesta · 28/02/2011 15:53

YABU, and offensive. Do you have priority over eveyrone else? I am an Ebayer and I do my stuff at 2.45pm en route to the school run. Its usually emoty and its a lifeline for me. As other posters have said, a alck of demand and use leads to no post office at all.

I would also say the middle of the afternoon is the BEST time to do ebay stuff. Its not lunch time is it? and even if it was, every customer has an equal right to be tehre. if you don't like queuing- tough.

NestaFiesta · 28/02/2011 15:55

sorry about typos. Appalling, I know.
