Dd is 15 months and until last week she has been waking 2-6 times a night... Everytime she wakes, whether it's from a nap, middle of the night or in the morning she is crying and screeching until I go in to her... She never wakes and plays nicely or babbles to herself and i am so fed up with the whining! She has some cuddlies in her cot and her special cuddly but still cries! Arghhhh does anyone else have a serial moaner? My ds slept through from 3 months and woke nicely.... Aibu to so fed up? Any ideas to resolve this?

My DS1 did this and I don't think there is much you can do really, sorry!

My daughter is now 20 months. Like your daughter she woke very regulary until about 14 months when she started sleeping through. I still get the whining and crying when she wakes, but it's not quite as loud (the neighbours don't complain anymore!). Hopefully by 2 yrs she will get even better. It may help when she is big enough to move into a bed where she can get out and walk about.

Sorry to hear, my DS was just the same. It was a nightmare for up to an hour after any sleep. He was just so grumpy.

Grew out of it when he stopped napping at 18 months.

I'm glad to hear she might grow out of it! It's such a miserable alarm clock!

My dd did this... sorry to tell you that she still does it at 5...
No idea what the solution is, it seems to be innate tbh, and resistant to all form of persuasion.

Sorry I don't have any pearls of wisdom, but you're not alone! DD is 14 months and is a 'serial moaner' too! She never really wakes up crying, but whinges really loud every morning! God I miss the days when she used to wake up singing and I'd have a few minutes in bed smiling to myself!

IWillCountToThree · 27/02/2011 09:00

My DS does that too, he's 17m and we've tried everything. Just hoping he grows out of it soon!

DDs were nowhere near this bad!

euphrosyne · 27/02/2011 09:48

I know what you mean!
DS 16 months does the same. He always cries everytime he wakes up, night or day. He got up 3-6 times in the night until a month ago too.
It used to drive me mad, but I am now kind of immune to it.
No solutions I'm afraid, but you are not alone!

It's entirely possible she's waking up in pain.
Both of my DC have always woken from naps screaming. They didn't tend to do it so much in the night. DS was always a good sleeper but dd can still wake several times a night, though it's very rare that she screams now (21 months)
It took us a while to work it out but we finally figured out that ds would wake from naps with a headache, and we're assuming that dd does too. It's quite regular for dh and I to wake up with headaches so it makes sense that the children do as well and are grumpy about it!

Oh dear taren, it's so hard to know what's wrong until they can talk! I hope she's not in pain!
