How many kids? Tbh I think you're being unrealistic...Ihave 2 DC and a DH and you've got to be quick. No good buying treats and then looking for them 2 days later!

SeeJaneKick · 26/02/2011 23:27

And if muffins were the only goodies then YABU..you need more!

Bake your own...cheaper and bigger batches!

RightUpMyRue · 26/02/2011 23:27

YANBU. I'd be murderous.

Tigerbomb · 26/02/2011 23:28

I have this problem and my DC are 21 and 24.

I put all the treats on a top shelf in one of my kitchen cupboards and tell them time and time again to check first before eating. My DH doesn't eat chocolate, cakes or sweets so when I go to get something and it's gone I know it's them.

Greedy shites

HIde some then. My bro used to do this when he was a teen...are they lads? They eat a LOT at that age...my Mum used to hide eveyone elses share as he'd scoff the lot!

CBear6 · 26/02/2011 23:56

Teenage/early twenties boys are bottomless pits when it comes to food. My brothers could empty the fridge and still ask "what's for dinner?"

Buy a flavour they hate or label the packet "laxative muffins" Wink

squeakytoy · 26/02/2011 23:59

Airtight container, behind all the cleaning products. They wont think of looking there Wink

That goes on my "how to hide nice food from gannets" list.

Along with "choc ices and all frozen goodies go into empty sprout or carrot bags in the freezer.."

Diablo82 · 28/02/2011 11:03

YABU - if you have food in the fridge I think it is reasonable for anyboy in the house to help themselves. If you feel strongly then I would suggest speaking to the DC and making clear that they are only allowed one. TBH I think that comes across as mean.

silverfrog · 28/02/2011 11:08

I am astonished that posters think that any child over the age of about 8 (whether a step child or biological child) should not think about sharing, and not greedily scoffing more than their share of something - whatever it is.

OP, I would be annoyed too. It is not about the amount of food, but the fact that they eat the lot without thinking "oh, issey might want one of these" - no thought for others at all. very selfish.

Rubyted · 28/02/2011 11:15

I'd be peed off!

I was taught to share, and to ask before taking anything from the fridge. It's general manners.
