Holiday cost split

Hi everyone
I am going on holiday with my sister, her partner and her son. We are a family of 5. We are going to a villa - should we split the cost of the villa half and half, or is unfair on my sister as there is only 3 of them? Should we pay 5/8 and they pay 3/8?

Depends on rooms really.. pay per room is easier sometimes..

YOu divide the cost by 8, your sister pays 3 parts you pay 5.

There was a thread from 'the other side' of this a few weeks ago. Womwn and son went away with two bigger families and got stung for a third of the cost. General consensus seemed to be that paying per room was the fairest way of doing it, but I guess really you just need to talk it through with your sister

Yes I was going to suggest we pay more but then I saw that they would pay the same amount (half of the cost) if they were having a villa by themselves to sleep 4, IYSWIM

Every year we rent out a 5 bedroom house in Wales.We are family of 5,friends are 3,my mom and dad go and my brother comes to.We split it per bed,because we take a matress into our room for our lad.Splits up nicely.

So presumably if you were having a villa to yourselves that slept 6 then you would pay more.

Definitely split it by 8 and they pay for 3 and you for 5.
