to think lovey dovey facebook postings look silly

Ok, so I've got a facebook friend who is forever posting status updates (I love my fiance, I've the best fiance in the world, etc) and it's a bit sickly but fair enough.

What gets my goat is postings on their wall (I love you, I love you too).

I think it's daft. Tell each other, but facebook is a weird place to post it. It makes them look insecure

AIBU?

readinginsteadnow unfortunately it is much slower and depending on time on day can take most of his internet time up. uploading from messages takes longer and when you only have a short time you don't want to waste it.

takeitonthechins yes someone was suggesting that in my situation it was 'barf' inducing read the thread

begonyabampot · 27/02/2011 19:17

BlueCollie - I'm sorry if my posts caused any upset to you - wasn't my intention and you really weren't the kind of poster that this thread is about. I did think the PM option on Fb might be of use to you but fair enough if it takes longer to access. Hope your husband keeps safe and well and comes home to you soon.

Wysiwig · 27/02/2011 21:33

It's not just the lovey doveys that pee me off, it's the regular baby updates too...my cousin is a nightmare...i've deleted her :o

Miffles · 28/02/2011 01:04

Haven't read the whole thread, but def agree with the OP.

Have a couple who I'm "friends" with who are always sending love notes to each other. Even "Darling, we should go to bed now". They live in a 1-bed flat FGS!!!

VivienScott · 28/02/2011 07:39

In my experience, the only people I know who posted excessively lovey dovey sickly posts on fb, one of them was or had recently cheated on the other and was feeling very guilty. Sad but true!

readinginsteadnow · 28/02/2011 08:35

Giraffe, if people use fb as the 'new talking' instead of calling people of visiting, which is the way it seems to be going and many on here agreed with, then I'd expect fb to be a conversation. For example, I wouldnt call my friend to tell her I'd just cleaned my teeth, and I wouldnt call her with a sickly 'aw isnt mii likkle man gawjuss' opening line. I'd just have a proper chat using adult language and about actual real events and views.

thefruitwhisperer · 28/02/2011 09:19

The only things I write on my partners wall are things like

'You stink'
'Crab lips'
'Hello baldy, come home, your dinner is fucking ready'

charitygirl · 28/02/2011 10:11

Send a PRIVATE MESSAGE if you like 'little surprises'. You do realise FB has that function?

LibraPoppyGirl · 28/02/2011 15:35

If you don't like it then don't read it.

Scroll down....it's easy to do.

There are no rules to FB you can use it to network in whatever way you wish, it is up to the individual.

There is nothing to say you can't be lovey dovey in the rule of use.

In the same way that there is nothing to say that you have to like it either.

Like it or not it happens.

Get over it!!!

FooffyShmoofffer · 28/02/2011 16:10

If you don't like it don't read it.

If you don't like it don't watch it.

But FFS don't have an opinion on it.Hmm

begonyabampot · 28/02/2011 17:06

how can you not have an opinion on it? Think the lovey dovey crowd have found the thread. We are trying to help you, actually.

FooffyShmoofffer · 28/02/2011 17:12

begonya in case that was directed at me I was being sarky. Probably not obvious.

The whole 'if you don't like it don't read it/look at it/ watch it' argument doesn't wash.

This is a discussion forum and it's posted on AIBU.
The above statement is just so ...Blah. Pointless.

Loveydovey crap/baby language on facebook is point proving and attention seeking.

With a few exceptions.

LibraPoppyGirl · 28/02/2011 17:46

Fooffy my post is my opinion to which as you state quite correctly, along with other opinions, I am entitled to have Grin

FooffyShmoofffer · 28/02/2011 21:07

Libra - Fair do's. I like you. It's really not that important to me.Smile Truth be told I was trying out my inner MN snarkiness. Not sure it suits.

LibraPoppyGirl · 28/02/2011 22:26

Hee hee Smile @ fooffy I know what you mean, it matters not to me either, it just seemed like the lovey doveys were the underdogs and I do love to back an underdog Smile

I like you too
